People that try to find something wrong with coffee are a cancer.

It's true.

I hate my coffee maker. It makes me feel like an addict when it calls what ends up being 3 cups of coffee 8 cups. The upshot of this is I drank apparently 20 cups of coffee in a day earlier this month.

There used to be a time when I had a multi-pot-a-day habit.

These were good days.

The only problem with a pot of coffee is that it only holds one pot's worth. I need to find a pot of coffee that holds two or three pots, that would be worth something. Like a Bag of Holding, but for fresh-ground, fresh-brewed coffee.

I'd like a machine with a sealed bean hopper, water hookups, etc. that could always keep a fresh 2-cup amount on deck. If I fill up, brew fresh. If it sits for an hour, brew fresh. Constant fresh coffee.

Extraordinarily wasteful, yes. But mmmm.

Love my coffee but often wonder how the fark much did people drink in the 40s-70s that they'd have it after dinner and somehow still sleep. They had to be immune at that point to it's life sustaining magic!

May I suggest trying a french press? Most people I suggest this too say it's too much trouble, but it's really not. I switched 3 years ago and couldn't imagine coffee without one. The taste is better and it also cut my consumption down, which was needed. Hell, I had one of the big 20 cup machines at one point. I'd brew enough to fill it up, and finish off the whole thing over the course of an evening. Hey, at least it wasn't crack.

If you ever switch, get a stainless steel french press. They last longer and are easier to deal with.

I had a 2-pot-a-day habit, but then my heart almost exploded.

I do 2 cups a day (12 oz / standard household mug size) now. It works for me.

Also, I bought a grinder and now I only buy fresh beans and grind them myself. God damn, that's some tasty stuff.

Meh no matter what you do, you will die no matter what so enjoy life, eat drink and smoke what you will, just do it in moderation and ya will be fine, or go balls to the walls and die young with a smile on your face, either way you will end up worm food in the end.

Owned a Cuisinart grind and brew machine. Worked great, just add beans and water before going to bed. Only problem was it sounded like a fighter jet landing in my kitchen 5 minutes before my alarm went off. Gave up coffee due to high blood pressure years ago, but still love the taste.
/may try decaf for the flavor some day

I love my little one cup french press. Good coffee, and it's handy for somebody like me who maxes out at two cups of caffeinated whatever (usually tea) a day, and already has an electric kettle lying around. Just make one cup at a time, so no waste and no fuss. The coffee tastes better too. The only time I ever miss my old coffee pot is on mornings when I would have used the time brew feature in conjunction with my alarm clock in the past.

Depending on how you define cups, I envy you. I drink 18-24 cups as measured by my 12 cup coffee carafe and often feel like taking a nap shortly thereafter. I have a buddy that drinks a pot in the evenings just before he goes to bed.

I never stopped. Pretty much like I've never altered my lifestyle on the basis of any of the other ever-fluctuating "studies" regarding what's supposed to kill me this week: eggs, meat, coconut oil on popcorn, Chinese food, etc.

I want a stainless steel stove top percolator, but can't find on that doesn't either have a plastic lid insert that supposedly gives you cancer, or a glass insert that supposedly drops slivers of glass on the grounds. I think I'll just boil coffee in a double boiler and strain it
