| St_Francis_P The cause of the accident remained under investigation as of Saturday night. Must be just a coincidence there's a Farmer's Market on the far side of that pool. |

Jeez I see this way too often with elderly drivers. They can't get a hang of these new fangled doohickey shifters which are on the center console now. Guarantee she thought she was in reverse, hit the gas, panicked when it went forward, then hit the gas again full throttle....d'oh! |

FTA:The woman's car plunged into the pool after it drove over a curb and through a fence in the 1200 block of Rudolph Drive in Northbrook about 12:30 p.m., according to a statement from Northbrook Fire Department District Chief Daniel Quinn. Luckily, it was only a car.....this time |

Looks like a great advertisement for the pool cover company. ![]() As far as I can tell, only one strap broke and the cover is still intact. |

As someone who grew up in Northbrook, I can tell you this happens way too often. I was heading down Waukegan road one day (the main road that connects several suburbs together) and I saw an elderly man plow through a wall in a parking lot into a dance studio. They either drive Toyotas or Lexus's (Lexii?). |

The farked up part is that she will probably be able to keep her license. I hope she does the right thing here and trades her car in for a Rascal. That or suicide by Ensure. |

At first, I thought to myself that maybe, maybe it's time we start revoking the driving privileges of some of these geezers. But then it occurred to me that they'll just keep driving because 'they've earned it.' And when we do catch them driving, there's no way they'll be treated like the working-class schmuck in his '92 Saturn driving after suspension on the way to his job. |

But in all seriousness, I gauge who I should avoid on the road by what they drive, and Lexes are a big biohazard warning symbol to me. |

| fluffy2097 It is reported that her last word before hitting the pool was "POOOWWWWARRRRRHHHH!" |

| italie That area from Mount Prospect on north is filled with elderly that shouldn't be on the road. I have a 25 mile commute east every day that comes to a screeching halt around Rand due to elderly doing their thing. Nearly hit one yesterday who attempted a left turn across a 4 lane roadway that was separated by a concrete barrier. After figuring out she wasn't getting across that barrier, she continued on to her destination travelling north in the southbound lanes for at least 3 blocks that I could see. The bigger question, is why they left that much water in the pool. Just asking for freeze damage. |
