But that's not important right now.

I'm with many of the commenters on the site. What the hell is going on that they can't write a better story than that? And the cops and mayor's office won't release any more info? That's BS. They are obligated to release all the relavant info they gather about the incident.

Was it an attack on the mayor? Probably not but they sure as shiat need to say so.

But of course at the end of the day I don't really care since I don't know the mayor of Birmingham.

Not in Alabama. They're similar dishes, but not the same. Both derive from wienerschnitzel.

Chicken fried steak is mainly a Texas/Oklahoma/Arkansas dish. It's cube steak that's been tenderized, coated, and deep fried and crispy, like a chicken, served with peppery white gravy on the side.

Country fried steak is tenderized cube steak that has been coated, and usually pan fried, sauteing it in brown gravy for the last few minutes. It's less crispy, and served smothered in gravy. It's more popular in the southeast.

Both are excellent, you can actually feel your arteries clogging while you eat.

That does sound really good.

I eat a nearly-vegetarian diet, and mostly cook at home. But when I go out my rule is order something I would not make at home.

Um, because they don't want to come out and say that the attack was in response to some anti-redneck movie on YouTube when in actuality it was a planned attack.

You can get it in Pittsburgh at Bob Evans, and it's called "country fried steak" there.
Primanti's is over-rated. Good, but over-rated. Go to any deli and order a sandwich with fries and slaw on the side, then put the fries and slaw on your sandwich and you have a Primanti.

Any article that starts with a tired cliche is indeed terrible, but to be fair it's a sidebar to the main article.

the racial makeup of the city was 62.46% Black, 35.07% White ... median income for a household in the city was $26,735, ... Birmingham has the tenth highest crime rate in the country.[43] U.S. News & World Report ranked Birmingham as the third most dangerous city in the nation for 2011

How normal is it for a mayor, even in a dangerous city, to always ride in an armed motorcade? Or has there been some history that makes such behavior prudent?

Question, why is a security detail taking the mayor with them in pursuit?

If was attack on the mayor taking him with you just helps the bad guys. If it wasn't, you suck at security if you take your custody TO a gunfight.

Just came to say that this:

By this time, the officer was near Hargrove's car. "I yelled at him, 'If you need cover, open my car door,''' he said. "There wasn't much protection for him out there." The officer did just that.

Doesn't do jack. Car doors don't stop bullets.

Most mayors have some kind of security detail and its usually at least one police officer who is the mayor's chauffeur and bodyguard. Mayors get a police radio too.

It's usually a politically selected position to hook someone up with a cushy gig out if harm's way, usually.

/They mostly come out at night, mostly.
