| mysticcat I've seen several cases of this in my career. It's not that hard to diagnose. All of the patients had positional rhinorrhea and could reproduce it for me on the spot. It's a great party trick, too. |

| I_Am_Weasel We warned you not to watch Fox News, but did you listen? No! This is the result! |

| St_Francis_P I_Am_Weasel: We warned you not to watch Fox News, but did you listen? No! This is the result! Chances are if you watch Fox News, you don't have much of a brain to worry about. |

"We checked your brain fluid levels, and it looks like you are a quart low. We'll probably need to replace a gasket." |

This happened to this lady who used to date my roommate - she was *always* blowing her nose and decongestants didn't help. Years later she finds out it was spinal fluid leaking through. She wasn't bright to begin with, but that probably didn't help. |
||
| Diogenes The crack ultimately allowed cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) to stream through her nose. Your move, Ecstasy. |
||
| RexTalionis I saw this episode of Fringe already. |

It's a great party trick, too. What can cause it? Typically trauma, which can be distant and not thought of as severe. Otherwise, its classified as "spontaneous" from connective tissue defects +/- intercranial hypertension. |

| Shadow Blasko No its not. Cerebrospinal fluid tastes more coppery... not bitter.. just.. more tangy. |

| kumanoki This article doesn't answer a fundamental question: What does brain fluid smell like? WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE? |

I feel like I once read a story about a guy who had a variation on this that he could not get surgically corrected for some reason, so he was carrying around a cup to catch the fluid when he needs to dump it out. It was pretty horrible. |

How are these people not walking around with severe encephalitis? |

I knew it! Every time I have a couple of hits, my nose runs. Clearly these are my brain cells, completely destroyed by pot, and leaking out my nose. I'm gonna have to re-think my woeyy fuffff looiifee |

George Clooney talked about having that issue on Letterman a few years ago...he was filming a movie and fell off a horse or something and cracked something in his neck...had a runny nose, as well as some fairly severe pain for a few months before the doc finally found the problem and fixed it.. Link |
||
| FunkOut I remember reading an article once where George Clooney was having horrific neck pain after a movie set injury and was having his complaints dismissed until one doctor finally noticed the man had spinal fluid coming out of his nose. Turns out he had torn the lining around his spine. |

| semiotix RexTalionis: I saw this episode of Fringe already. Like most episodes of Fringe, it was just a ripoff of a Grey's Anatomy episode from the prior season. /there, that should start an interesting flame war //and all I had to do was admit to watching Grey's Anatomy |

Had brain tumor removed twice and each time the Dr. went up through my nose and through the sinus cavity. The Dr. said if you think your nose is running call a nurse immediately and don't blow your nose. |

| brantgoose "I can smell my brain" sounds like something said by Billy from Billy & Mandy's Grim Adventures or else Ralph Wiggum of The Simpsons. Is there a web meme involved that I haven't run across? I did find two references to brain-smelling: When all you can smell is your brainhttp://www.newscientist.com/blog s/culturelab/2011/08/when-all-yo u-can- smell-is-your-brain.html and I can smell my brain http://mollysmadeleine.blogspot.ca/20 07/07/i-could-smell-my-brain.htm l Also references to smelling your brain cooking, but those are just a figure of speech. |

Judging from only the first season, everything happening in Fringe ties back to the overwhelming arc, whereas X-Files did their one-off monster of the week shows. |

Hey Guize, you know what I heard, George Clooney was doing his own stunts and he jumped off a 10 story building without any safety gear. He landed on his feet and BAM, he lost about 1/2 an inch in height. You probably don't notice cause he's such a tall drink of water anyway....so anyway, I heard that he limped away and later he had this pain in the neck and so he went to the local Walgreens and then Pharmicist put a flishlight up his nose and HE SAW HIS BRAIN MATTER CRAWLING DOWN THROUGH HIS SINUS CAVITY TRYING TO ESCAPE. I heard that he immediately ran down the isle and grabbed some WD-40, a tampon, a Kit Kat ( he was hungry you know) a toilet plunger, and a bag of Kraft Caramels (left over from Halloween, I guess) andHE FIXED IT RIGHT ON THE SPOT!!!. /true story. |

| brantgoose Brain leakage is a common affliction of Fox news viewers. They are also at serious risk of blowing their brains out when they sneeze. But it is an ill wind ... that's how they recruit new talent (except for Fox Babes, who are picked out of the Victoria's Secret catalogue because there is a kind of brainlessness among models that can't be faked by intelligent women with hair coloring. |

They did, but they often slipped a little character development or other small detail in that became important later. Not always of course since it wasn't quite up to Whedon-level, but they did pretty well. /Started season 8 last night //Still a fangirl 19 years later |

RexTalionis: ladyfortuna: /Started season 8 last night I stopped watching X-Files after season 6 or season 7. So did I actually, except for a few of the Doggett episodes. Some of the post LA ones were terrible, but a bunch are actually still pretty good in my opinion. I always liked Robert Patrick as an addition though, which puts me in a minority. |

Robot: "Sir, are you aware that you're leaking coolant at an alarming rate?" Fry: "Uhh..." Robot: "Let me just patch you up with some hot resin." Fry: "I think the leak's stopping itself! Wait...wait...yeah! There we go. Wait...yeah." Robot: "What sort of robot turns down a free blast of searing hot resin?" |

Doctors suck... Went to 6 doctors for trouble breathing, no answers. Googled for 30 minutes and discovered that it was acid reflux. |
