FTFA: Deborah Brinkman of Ormond Beach caught the attention of a worker in a Walmart parking lot early Monday because she was driving around and throwing out paper towels soiled with her own waste, the Flagler County Sheriff's Office said.

Great. A Walmart is going up in my neighbourhood - should be completed early next year...and I have behaviour like this to look forward to.

Wow, this story is like a white trash location trifecta. You've got Florida, Wal-mart, and Golden Coral all in one drunken, shiat-spewing car chase.

Oh I don't know. it depends on what your neighborhood is like and whether there are other Walmarts around.

If you're in farflung upper middle class HOA land and there are crappy Walmarts closer to the poor neighborhoods, your new Walmart may have the customer equivalent of a decent Target. I had one of these nice Walmarts near me in my last residence. Hell, they didn't even check our receipts on the way out.

I live in a fairly upscale area and the walmart is actually pretty nice. And there is never much of anyone in there. And they allow 'mall walking' for the grannies.

Same here. I just bought a CD player for someone for Christmas and just walked right out. Not only did they not check, there was no one there checking anyone at all.

Nah, he's screwed. There's on in an affluent neighborhood here. One or more of these seems to happen;
1) The typical WM shopper is drawn to the place like a fly to shat,
2) The locals who do shop there are those who haven't left the house since moving there,
3) The locals become wally zombies when they pull into the parking lot,
4) Locals who don't want to live by WM sell for slightly less than they could have otherwise, which lowers the median home value (appraised), causing others to sell quickly out of fear of further decline thus hastening the downward spiral.
Oh look, they're putting up a Applebees and TitleMax.

The stores are like a fine grain of foreign material in a small cut; nothing at first, then a discoloration, maybe an itch, the swelling begins, an abscess develops, etc. etc. and then you have these stories.

I was thinking that, too. I guess with all the other stuff, they ran out of room for lesser includeds and were too lazy to fill out the paperwork to attach a page two.

They'd be gilding the lily at that point.

Though I'm not sure what the equivalent metaphor is for poop.

very sorry to hear this. when news was WM was coming to our town all the excellent little mom & pop shops just gave up and closed their doors. the township gave the WM people a rash of shiat so we wound up with the tiniest crappiest WM you'll ever see. it is the most poorly run store i've ever been in. try to buy something as simple as a mop and half the display will be empty. good luck finding Hot Wheels decently stocked in. worst farking WM i've been in, period, and i've been in WM's up and down the east coast and all over the south.

/ i hate you, Wal-Mart

I don't think I've ever been to a Wal-mart and not seen a soiled diaper in the parking lot. No soiled paper towels, though.

If you really want to see who your neighbors are, walk into Walmart at about 5:30 to 6 PM on any non-holiday weeknight, and then again at about midnight on a Saturday night. If you get a good vibe from both of these experiences, then you live in a pretty decent area. Typically, it is rare you will get a get vibe from both of these experiences. In some Walmarts, you won't get a good vibe from either of them. I've lived in a lot of different places/states, and this test holds up everywhere. There's something about the cross-section of society that you get in the stores at those times (both customers and employees) that seems to accurately reflect the general character/attitude of the area. It's a far more realistic picture than any PR put out by the local chamber of commerce, that's for sure.

Vibe.

No. If they added a littering charge, some bleeding heart would have said that this poor soul was being needlessly harassed.
