| Shadow Blasko So.. not so much with the one with comments. Ok. *shrug* Damn Japan .. y'all just can't catch a break can you? 1m wave might be nasty.. I dunno. Couple decent aftershocks already too... Stay safe! |

| Korb I've been watching the NHK World web cast. The general impression I've gotten is that it shook pretty good, and there was a little wave on the beach, but overall this was pretty meh. Also it happened at night, so even if it was really bad, there are no dramatic videos of water swallowing greenhouses and parking lots like there were in 2011. You know, the kind of facts that are going to be ignored by the US news media who are going to start labeling this a disaster and tards will start shoveling money to people peddling fake radiation drugs to protect against the non-existent glowing green cloud floating this way over the Pacific. |

Is okay, just one meter in Ishinomaki with no damage. Tokyo got shaken (not stirred) but nothing even shook past Aichi going to the west. |

I'm only saying this because I care - there are a lot of decaffeinated brands on the market today that are just as tasty as the real thing. |

Well to be fair, the tsunami hasn't hit yet. AFAIK, anyway. But that's where the real devastation comes from. |

While a 7 pointer isn't anything to shake a stick at, it's far from a 9-pointer. I think the real question is... Is this just a prelude? |

| wakitu Aftershocks of 6.2, 5.5, a couple of 4.7s... Small waves have already hit - 20cm to 1m. Tokyo Electric Power says workers reach safe position inside Fukushima nuclear plant, didn't evacuate. No injuries reported yet. Those in affected areas still being advised to move to higher ground. |

This is feels like last year. I won't be surprised if there's another, bigger quake in the next couple days. Time to double-check the emergency bag. |

Wow, my first two weeks living in Japan. This is about to get interesting. Definitly felt it. |

||
| DaCricket GreatGlavinsGhost: Why is there a link to something other than the USGS when there's a huge earfquake? Because the USGS is notoriously slow about putting up the earthquakes that happen in this part of the world (although they may have gotten better since 2011). And because the JMA and High-net (Japanese EQ tracking sites) both get fuxored pretty quickly. |
||
| wakitu GreatGlavinsGhost: I think the thread provides words, especially if a FARKer can give a first-hand account. It really is the place to be when things go down. Watched some biggies from the sidelines through Farkers' words. |

You're one of the first I thought about when news of the earthquake hit fark. I was in my underwear by the door. Sounds desperate, but my shower's actually next to the door. The quake hit right before an after work shower and I was just about ready to start when it hit. Nothing too bad. Just long. Very minor wigglin' in Tokyo. But minor wigglin' for a long time. |

||
| doglover Basically this was a minor quake in Tokyo. There were literally HUNDREDS just like it after the big one in 2011. That one was all up and down. Up and down is what breaks buildings. Side to side is what happened today. No idea how it was out in Fukushima area. But everyone on facebook seems OK. |
