Just what we need - a bunch of high motherfarkers falling off Beacon Rock. That trail is sketchy enough without weed... |

| ZAZ That's daring the feds to come and get him. He's promoting marijuana use a lot more than concert organizers targeted by the RAVE act. He'd better be too poor to make asset forfeiture worthwhile. |

| sammyk Sounds like a creative way to get a visit from the DEA. They barely tolerate medical marijuana. How hard do you think they will come down on any business that sets up shop to facilitate recreational use? Also, how do you supply a business like that and stay under the state possession limits? Have fun in prison. |

netizencain: Hooray for carcinogen and fungus inhalation! "Through many detailed experiments, handily summarised in this recent article in the journal Nature Reviews Cancer, scientists have discovered that various cannabinoids (both natural and synthetic) have a wide range of effects in the lab, including: * Triggering cell death, through a mechanism called apoptosis * Stopping cells from dividing * Preventing new blood vessels from growing into tumours * Reducing the chances of cancer cells spreading through the body, by stopping cells from moving or invading neighbouring tissue * Speeding up the cell's internal 'waste disposal machine' - a process known as autophagy - which can lead to cell death Link /But please, thrill us with your acumen |

Elzar: Just what we need - a bunch of high motherfarkers falling off Beacon Rock. That trail is sketchy enough without weed... I thought it had pretty good safety precautions in place both underfoot and in terms of railings, but yeah it is steep as hell and morons will fall off if high when climbing. Climbed it last summer; one of many awesome things on that trip. I wish I could afford to go back every couple of years. |

| Gyrfalcon OK, if you'll look to your right, you'll see a weed. Off to your left, you'll see...well, another weed. They're pretty much all weeds. Hence the name. |

It's still illegal to grow and distribute marijuana until the state sets up licensing and taxation guidelines, so for the next year he'll need a BYOBud policy rather than including it in the cost. |

The mayor of Ithaca just told the chief of police to ignore minor pot posession: I have directed the Ithaca Police Department to focus on other issues that will more effectively protect the public. Between dealers of hard drugs and stopping violent crime, our officers have more important things to be focusing on than low-level marijuana offenses." So, yeah. |

| SpeedyBB ZAZ: That's daring the feds to come and get him. He's promoting marijuana use a lot more than concert organizers targeted by the RAVE act. He'd better be too poor to make asset forfeiture worthwhile. That was my first thought: just as 90% of the membership of the old CPUSA was FBI dorks, most of his reservations will be snapped up by DEA drones. Your tax dollars in action. I cannot see the narcocrats ever giving up. They're still in thrall to Harry Anslinger's ghost. |

For example, some researchers have found that although high doses of THC can kill cancer cells, they also harm crucial blood vessel cells, although this may help their anti-cancer effect by preventing blood vessels growing into a tumour. And under some circumstances, cannabinoids can actually encourage cancer cells to grow, or have different effects depending on the dosage and levels of cannabinoid receptors present on the cancer cells. [Edited for clarity and to add reference - KA 27/07/12] Furthermore, cancer cells can develop resistance to cannabinoids and start growing again, although this can be got round by blocking a certain molecular pathway in the cells known as ALK. The biggest issue is that there isn't enough evidence to show that they can treat cancer in people, although research is still ongoing around the world. |
