I would completely approve of this fine lad if only his name wasn't "Chase." Who names their kid after a bloodsucking bank?

Later, while playing with his huge pile of new toys, the kid was heard to say "SIKE!"

Wow.

For some reason, I want to give this kid a thunderbird. Seems like he'd be worth it more than Joe Biden.

Kids say stupid shiat sometimes - also, sometimes kids get more generous than they realize they should be. It's too bad we don't retain some of that innocence as we grow older.

If you give me 500 presents this xmas, I'll just say "Uh, thanks!"

I didn't associate them with a bank until they bought WaMu, and that was under 8 years ago.

Maybe it's the whiskey, but this story got me all teary-eyed.

Eight years old, and already this kid is a better man than me.

That was disappointing... The toys never were going to the kid, he just organized a Toys For Tots drive. Don't get me wrong, that's awesome and all, but I had a vision of hundreds of wrapped gifts with some kids ripping into all of them before chucking them into a donation bin.

Good for him.

I saw a USMC Lieutenant Colonel and Private working a booth at the PX yesterday. So of course I went in and bought some toys!

The kid's a COMMIE. Probably even voted for Obama.

If those kids aren't bootstrappy enough to go to work and pay for their own Christmas toys, then screw 'em, because it's little Bolsheviks like this that are going to cheer when Obama's jack-booted thugs start kicking our doors in, and stealing our toys for redistribution to a bunch of lazy, listless toddlers that are probably too hopped up from taking marijuana, or drunk on government liquor to go out, and get a job.

Can Sharia law be far behind?
They'll get MY Pretty Pony, when they pry it out of MY dead, cold hands!

A couple of years back, a friend of mine was going through hard times and her church gave her a bunch of cash to spend on Christmas presents for her kids. She ended up buying every non-imaginary item on their lists and a whole lot of other stuff that took half the night for us to wrap. When the kids woke up, they went to town unwrapping presents... for about ten minutes. We tried to get them to open more stuff (they hadn't even formed a path to the bike or dollhouse yet), but they were happy to just play with the presents they had already unwrapped. It took several days and a lot of coaxing to get them to tackle the rest.

Even though it may seem neat to be able to keep 500 presents, when you're not brought up with materialistic values, I guess those moments aren't really that important. So good for little WaMu.

I'm not buying that an eight year old initiated this with no parental pressure or manipulation of any kind. Sure, it's possible. Is it probable?

What sounds probable is that the kid is a sockpuppet for his parents, Rejoice Church volunteers in Owasso.

"Later, while playing with his huge pile of new toys, the kid was heard to say "SIKE!""

This. And high-fiving his mom. Later when asked "Why?" by the local news, he'll simply do a double flick-off while waving his arms as seen in Air Heads by Steve Buscemi...and we'll all laugh and forget this little tyke did anything wrong.

CSB....
my partner and i have been together for 21 years.
for 8 of those years, my niece lived with us.
i honestly think having 2 dads made her a better person.
when she was about the same age as this little boy she told us we should give our christmas supper to "poor people"
she no longer lives with us, but we all still find a family to buy christmas dinner, gifts for kids and something for mum and dad.

she was a farking awesome kid.

Yeah, yeah. Kids across the country are doing the charity-birthday thing and have been for years. Without being all AW about it. Both of mine have done it, as have several of their friends.

Good on this kid. But he's not special.

Yeah, you have to be a pretty cynical arse to think this kid planned this.

Like an 8 year-old kid knows how to contact the local media?

The mom planned it.

I don't believe in any of those toys for tots donation drives (or similar charities)... why do you ask? Well an old manager of mine who did a Christmas toy/gift drive through his church (he managed the drive) went out to deliver the toys to the "poor black families" in Milwaukee who "didn't have any money" Well it turns out most of the families whom they stopped at who claimed to have no money had large-screen TVs and multiple game consoles in their house (Nicer stuff than the people donating had!). They obviously had money and here they were on food stamps and whatnot and claiming to be poor and had no problem taking someone's donated gifts. Unfortunately there is a lot of that going on in Milwaukee with black folks. This is why I will not donate any gifts in the Milwaukee area. Too many abusers and leechers in the system.

Similar idea with my 4 year old. He would often get a full cup of water, take a few sips and dump the rest. Mom and I explained that he shouldn't waste water as many kids in Africa (among other countries) don't have enough clean water.

He says let's send clean water to Africa for his birthday present. So all invites for his party asked for a small $ donation instead of a birthday present. We raised over $150.

www.Plan.ca will, with matching grants, build a well/supply a family with clean water for a year for $75. The rest of the $ went towards buying a goat for a family to have fresh milk. He insisted that it be a brown goat, so it would give chocolate milk! ;-)
