Hey, who doesn't love a naughty Santa? The GIS for it is fantastic:

No explicit nudity, but still NSFW

My kind of Christmas stockings (Same premise, should be considered NSFW)

"We do not support the adult-themed advertising presented on the float," DeMoura's statement said. "The language was contrary to the family-friendly nature of the parade and brought controversy to an otherwise exceptional parade."

Which of these slogans - "Gifts for the naughty and nice!!!" and "Guilt free shopping in a comfortable and upscale atmosphere." - is contrary to a family-friendly environment and in any way controversial?

You're right, it's impossible to understand why there'd be anyone who was against this. All of those words are fine...it's completely impossible to understand. It must be the other people being wrong because not even using all the power of my imagination can I even begin to conceive why anyone would have a problem with this.

Let me try again...UNNNNHHHHHHHHHH...nope, I am utterly unable to see how this is an issue at all.

Interestingly, even though all the words I just used say very clearly that I completely agree with your point of view, you somehow know that I do not agree with your point of view. Isn't it weird how that works...

Comments like the two below the article make me glad I don't live in SC. They was nothing x-rated about the sign. No nudity, no swear words, etc. It was no big deal. Get over yourselves prudish SC. I'd like to transplant all SC residents to Europe for a week where full frontal nudity appears on television and women go topless (and in some place bottomless) at the beach. They'd all have heart attacks.

PLEASE! THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Butthurt, butthurt everywhere there is butthurt.

White Christmas? NO, Butthurt Christmas.

Remember kiddies, if you can celebrate your holiday and butthurt the Christian Taliban, you have done well.

The question isn't whether people can contrive to be offended by the existence a place they don't approve of. The question is whether they have any legal right to impede a non-profane, non-explicit advertising campaign at an event that accepts advertising for other legal business venues. Hint: The Supreme Court's only problem would be that they didn't properly fill out the paperwork.

They should have know it was going to cause a controversy, but if advertising was allowed they had no reason not to display the sign hell the controversy is just additional advertising.

As the person responsible for organizing our community's Christmas parade (and July 4th parade), I have to say the community would be very upset if somebody put something similar in our parades. I would catch a LOT of flak for either saying it was OK or not reviewing each float to make sure this kind of stuff stayed out. I patronize those types of stores, but then again I am not a child. There is probably a better place to advertise an adult store than in a Christmas parade.

I think that they should have the ability to put this float in that parade. I also think they should have the brains to figure out that doing so would be a really bad idea. Just because you CAN do something doesn't mean you SHOULD do something. Everything in its place and all that jizz jazz...

/but we had a Pure Romance dealer at our vendor tent with no complaints so go figure

The strumpets of Corinth come later in the New Testament. Mary Magdalene was contemporaneous with Jesus, but not guilt-free.

For that matter, how is sex not "family friendly?" You don't get families without sex, somewhere along the line. Let's face it, cloning hasn't come that far yet.

Leave it to SC to get butthurt about a tateful ad for an adult business but not bat an eye at a company called 'Back of the Bus Transportation and Advertising'. Because using a reference to segregation to sell your services is so family friendly.

Sounds like some people need to go shopping for a more comfortable stick to store in their asses.

I wonder where they might find some guilt free shopping in a comfortable and upscale atmosphere?

The problem is the "guilt-free" part. They might not be able to stop you from buying electric boyfriends, but they want you to feel bad about it.

I guess Dan Cathy should make few more remarks about gay marriage, then.

It's not effective advertising for the stip club or the bus company.

Isn't this how you MAKE families?

It drives me crazy when people conflate "the community" with "a handful of the most vociferous twits in the community, who are trapped in a feedback loop of self-importance that is only strengthened by people who treat them as if they speak for the community."

Representing Santa's "naughty list" in the annual Christmas Parade?

EUREKA!

That's the best idea I've heard for spicing up Parades since the GLBTT community decided that parades needed hot nudes!

Think about the possibilities for floats, clowns and costumes!

Satire is something sorely missing in modern holidays. They take themselves so damn seriously.

You used to be able to count on Valentine's day for insulting cards and poison pen letters but that custom seems to have died in the XIXth century or possibly the very early XXth century when commerical cards took over from hand-crafted slander and libel.

This idea could be the best thing to come out of the Carolinas EVAR! (Steve Colbert excepted, of course).

Eh, normally I'm first in line to tell people to get a grip about shiat like this, but in this case I kinda see their point. It's overwhelmingly a holiday for children, trying to force the sex talk is a bit inappropriate.

No problem with the advertising in general, just putting it in the parade, which again is an event almost entirely for small children (show me an adult that wouldn't be bored to sleep by a parade if they didn't have to watch a gaggle of kids to keep them wandering off). Especially on the side of a school bus, wtf, man.

//Also not like they're fining the company or anything, they're just noting that the city doesn't support it.

A twin bed is great for sex. Makes it harder for her to squirm away.

A local radio station entered a float in Raleigh's Christmas parade with a black figure hanging off a tow truck hook, and dressed in fairy wings and a tutu. It was labeled "Tyrone the Black Christmas Fairy" or something like that. Yeah, some people didn't exactly like that either.
