| FirstNationalBastard You just don't have lyrical genius anymore like "As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most." |

Dumski Approves, but sues subby for use of his song lyric in submission. |

And if the water levels were the same as they are today, those ships would have never sunk and many lives would have been spared. Who says climate change is bad? |

Fresh water lakes in drought areas will get lower, the overall sea level will rise. These are not incompatible notions. |

Hey - here's an utterly fascinating story about something people don't get to see all that often - shipwrecks you can walk right up to! Better get two or three nice postage-stamp-sized photos up on the website! ASSHOLES!!! |

And if the water levels were the same as they are today, those ships would have never sunk and many lives would have been spared. Who says climate change is bad? Wut? Water levels dropping doesn't mean that there are fewer dangerous locations. It means that what was previously dangerous is now dry land and what was previously safe has become a danger. The water is shallower which means the shipping channels are narrower and more underwater obstructions are closer to the surface. It also means that old charts are dangerously obsolete. Deep water is safe water. |

| Harry Freakstorm The Muskegon Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/XS5bCY ) sections of the 290-foot steamer Aurora, which burned in 1932, and parts of at least four other shipwreck hulks were exposed by the receding waterline at Grand Haven near the edges of Harbor Island. Four shipwrecks? Sounds like Grand Haven wasn't such a great something something. |

Considering the original dune line lies 20 miles inland, Lake Michigan has been receding since the glaciers went home to get more rocks. |

That 125 year old ship parts would look great over the fireplace mantle. Just the thing to compliment the 1850's cemetery ironwork have in the corner in front of the book shelf. And the table legs we had made from some druid field stones we pick up in Ireland two years ago. // Hey they were just laying in the ground. I didn't think anyone would mind. |

There is a mill ruin by me. George Atzerodt hid there after he got too drunk to participate in the Lincoln assasination. I was hiking there in the summer and found the mill stone. I would hve loved to have taken it but it was about 600 lbs. |

Harry Freakstorm: four When I first came here, this was all water. Everyone said I was daft to build a boat on the water, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into Lake Michigan. So I built three more. They sank into the lake. So I built the Aurora. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the lake. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Lad, the strongest boat in all of Lake Michigan. |
