Jann Wenner hates that kind of music, so since he's the publisher of the most influential rock magazine out there it just kinda snowballed from there. It's also why Deep Purple isn't in the hall, or King Crimson of a bunch of similar bands. Not that they're the same, but exactly the same reason Kiss ins't either.

But we got three out of the ballot I submitted numerous times on their website, so I can't complain. (No DP, Joan Jett or to a lesser extent, Paul Butterfield Blues Band.)

Well, 1212 is quite close to a number of notable happenings:

Yes

No. I believe he meant the difference between the Gregorian and Julian calendars. The date 12/12/1212 in the Julian calendar would not be the same day as on the Gregorian calendar. Converting the dates of every event in history a few days in either direction would be too much confusing work we just leave it be. The difference would only really be noticeable when two countries records are using different calendars and it's the 5th of March here and the 2nd there.
