I think the author meant to say they hadn't determined the exact cause of the injuries. I'm guessing news articles rarely get proofread these days.

Multiple blunt force trauma is a pretty generic term. Was she dropped on her head? Beat with an object? Hit by a car?

I'm all for the death penalty. Especially in a case like this where it's so obvious who did it. Under normal circumstances I would suggest a hasty trial, then give the girl's parents a bat or gun (their choice), and shuffle the asshole out the back door.

In this case, though, one of them IS the parent! So, find the girl's real father, or closest relative, and let THEM do he beating, stabbing, shooting, etc. The burn him, just to be sure.

My guess is at least one of them either abused her for some sick pleasure or as a form of punishment. This time it went too far and she died.

The way they took her to a hospital tells me they didn't intend for her to die. They also didn't seem to do anything to hide it so it doesn't appear to be planned.

I think a fair punishment would be to give them both the claws that are used in cockfights and tell them they're free to go if they kill the other. Then when one of them is dead, you tell them congratulations, pull out a .45, then shoot them in the head

I'm going to go with the "one parent trying to get back at the other parent who probably has primary custody by killing the child or children" as motive. We've been seeing a lot of that sh*t in Canada recently, and sadly when you see the faces of the ultimate victims, it just gets f*cking worse.

Perhaps this is because you are a kind person, and you look at the picture of that cute little girl and think, "anyone who would beat her to death has to be crazy!" I feel the same way too. But, not everybody is like us; not everybody is in our position. Some people are beset with problems. Some people are at the end of their rope. Some people see a child as a living reminder of their problems and the (perceived) injustices done to them. You don't have to be a "stone cold psychopath" for the stresses of life and caring for a young child to bring out the flaws in your character.

Correct. Most would feel extreme remorse for merely hitting a child. A smaller number would feel remorse for beating the kid over the head once. An even smaller number would feel no remorse for repeatedly doing this, They are called psychopaths. And, no I am not trying to diagnose someone on the strength of a news article, I was postulating that only a psycho would repeatedly abuse their child. Again, there is no rational reason ("motive") for systematically abusing your child.

Seriously?!?! I'm an a-hole and this pisses even me off. If you can't handle the kid, put her up for adoption. I've got two little girls and couldn't even think about doing something like that without turning into a blubbery mess and they are devils like their daddy.

that is not fair, some people might have trouble taking anothers life even if it is for a vary good cause. Open a salt mine (or "research station") in the arctic somewhere and send people like this to die.

I reject the death penalty on ethical and practical grounds. Under certain circumstances, however, I wouldn't object to a little manslaughter. Or a hunting "accident," I hear the moose can be very aggressive in Canada.

I've always found this way of thinking a completely retarded. If you think murdering an innocent child is the same as killing a murderer then there's definitely something wrong with you.
