I work for the state and get 2% at age 55. Many cities and counties here in CA are at 2.5% or higher for retirement.
They have really shot themselves in the foot, and I hate it when the media try to group the state and local government pensions all in one.
Yes, many pay into PERS, but I am sure not getting a super sweet pension deal.

It's a shame that about 250,000 union members run this state (a D-CA legislator recently described the teachers union as a fourth, co-equal branch of government), but, hey, Cali voters are too stupid to notice or care. It's always "for the children" except that it's really for the CTA pensions, until the next election cycle when it's "for the children" again.

I'm sure NY and Illinois union leaders and legislators just look on with awe and envy. Granted, they've got good scams running, but the CTA farking OWNS California.
