Not that hard to figure out, sounds like a feral dog to me. Dogs don't kill to eat, they kill for the fun of it. We had one dig under out chicken pen one night years ago to kill all 57 chickens we had, not a single one was eaten, just killed and left. Same thing happened to our neighbor's goats, it jumped into their stall in the barn and mauled them to death for the sheer sport.

It was eventually apprehended with a high powered rifle after it came back to kill a bait chicken in our pen.

Could it be, I dunno, somebody's well-fed dog who keeps on getting out of the yard and mauls other animals for fun?

There is speculation of a cross between these two. And,yes, they are in Kentucky, whether Fish & Game believe so or not. It's definitely dog, of some sort. More likely domestic, gone wild, because they are use to humans and will raid farms instead of hunting.
