| iamrex Lord of Allusions: I used to. Red Velvet Cheesecake Cookies is a good one. Ooooh, is that like some kind of whoopie pie? |
||
| Left-Handed Spatula I use popcorn as box cushioning when shipping soft things like cookies and muffins. Works quite well. |
||
| oi_piss_me_off i have in the past. i haven't had time to bake in a while but i JUST made some shortbread for some reason...i really don't know why. |
||
| Rincewind53 I just sent cookies to my TFSS earlier today! And apparently I now owe oi_piss_me_off and we'refromthesamestory Christmas cookies. |

| iamrex Left-Handed Spatula: I use popcorn as box cushioning when shipping soft things like cookies and muffins. Works quite well. Oh, that's a great idea!! I was wondering if I should go buy packing peanuts but I do have a bag of popcorn that I need to use up. |

I was wondering if I should go buy packing peanuts but I do have a bag of popcorn that I need to use up. When my dad was overseas with the army, his mom would bake him things and ship them in popcorn. Once she sent him a birthday cake that way; they ate the cake and the popcorn. |

| Rincewind53 Left-Handed Spatula: I use popcorn as box cushioning when shipping soft things like cookies and muffins. Works quite well. I got to the post office today and realized I had forgotten to bring anything to use as padding for cookies. So I just said fark and, and figured even if they showed up all broken in half, they'd still be tasty. |

Yes, salsa and spiced chocolate get shipped all over the US depending on where cousins and friends have landed. I usually start stashing pop tart boxes in september when the kids go back to school. They're a good size for shipping a couple half pint jars. Good old newspaper for packing material. |

I would happily eat delicious cookies, broken or whole. |

| MissFeasance Yes. The dude does a few kinds of biscotti for our further-flung friends and family (holy alliteration, batman) and I like to make these apple cookies. They ship really well. I replace half the raisins with craisins and usually just dust with powdered sugar instead of glazing. Apple cookies |

About 10-12 years ago, I made peanut brittle and sent it to friends and fam. By popular demand, I now have to do that every year. I'm lazy enough that I just leave the marble candy slab on the counter year 'round. I use Flo Braker's recipe and sneer at other brittle that I've tried. http://www.finecooking.com/recipes/tr aditional_peanut_brittle.aspx |

Chipotle or other chili powders can make an awesome addition to brittle. |

| Anderson's Pooper
iamrex: Anderson's Pooper: spiced chocolate What is this? Do you have a recipe? Melt one bag of chocolate chips in the microwave or over a double boiler. While chips are melting, seed and dice one habanero. Stir pepper into melted chocolate. Put chcolate on wax paper and form into a log. Place in freezer and slice into 1/8' slices when firm. Serve. This is a nice sinus opener and has about a five second fuse. The fruity flavor of the habanero goes well with the chocolate without being too ridiculously hot. |

| I May Be Crazy But...
Fancy oil is simple enough, and easy to ship. I'm going with that and salad dressings this year. But that's not a baked good, of course. |

Buckeyes: 2 lb peanut butter (chunky of course) 3T vanilla 1 lb margarine or butter (room temp) Mix, then stir in as best you can 3 lb of powdered sugar. Make into small balls and put in the fridge/freezer. While that's happening: in a double boiler, melt: 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips 12 oz sweet chocolate 2 oz unsweetened chocolate 1/2 bar of paraffin Stick toothpick in each ball, dip but don't fully coat each ball, place on wax paper to harden Should make 250-300, minus whatever you eat while making them. Alternately, go google "Mamie's Million Dollar Fudge". Best. Fudge. Evar. |

| DarwiOdrade My Nana's Spritz cookies: 2.5 C flour 1 C butter (2 sticks) .75 C sugar 1 lg egg .5 tsp almond extract Cream the butter & sugar, then add the egg & the extract. Add food coloring at this point if desired - green for trees & wreaths is nice. Slowly add flour. Refrigerate for a few hours (or up to a week), then let the dough come almost back to room temp. before loading into your cookie press & squeezing out little nuggets of holiday cheer. Bake at 375F about 6-7 minutes or until you can just barely see the edges start to brown a little. |

When I was in the Persian Gulf, my Mom sent me rolls that showed up moldy. Other places (Japan, Alaska), the same rolls made it okay. She would freeze them as soon as they'd cooled from the oven, seal them in Ziploc bags and insulate the box. For most of the world, that was enough, but things came to the Gulf after a five week trip, and that was too much. |
