Of course. I have yet to meet a TSA Agent who didn't have an enormous amount of insecurity. This kind of bullying would be punished harshly at the girl's school. But since it's "adults" doing it, and especially since they are wearing uniforms, it's just fine.

I don't know that sticking a camera or phone in the poor kids face rather than assuring her you were right there and everything would be fine was the best bit of parenting but what the hell do I know?

I guess this is why brap jr. will never be an internet sensation.  I guess I should install a camera in the basement and post some footage of him making shoes, he's really quite good at it.  Of course I don't TELL him that, He'd probably expect thicker gruel and shoes of his own or something equally out of the question.

The TSA responded to questions about the encounter with a statement that said in part, "TSA's mission is to safely, efficiently and respectfully screen nearly two million passengers each day at airports nationwide. We are sensitive to the concerns of passengers who were not satisfied with their screening experience and we invite those individuals to provide feedback to TSA through a variety of channels."

One day one of those channels will be the ignition switch of some TSA agent's car.

"TSA's mission is to safely, efficiently and respectfully screen nearly two million passengers each day at airports nationwide"

And they do what they have to do to get the job DONE.
That's how they stopped the shoe bomber guy from getting on the plane.
And that's how they stopped the underwear bomber guy from getting on the plane eight years after the shoe guy.

It's time. The TSA needs to be shut down, and replaced with the old airport security we used to have prior to 9/11. The TSA is a relic of a time where people wanted to feel safe, and the TSA provided that... while never actually preventing a single terrorist attack. For years they have overstepped their bounds, abused passengers physically, emotionally and sexually, and often stolen from them as well. This is yet another blunder in TSA's long list of missteps and abuse, and it is time it was stopped.

Let's say the regulations are loosened and sick girls in wheelchairs won't be searched anymore.

Where do you think the next terrorist is going to hide his bomb?

Security can only be achieved through eternal vigilance.

this kinda stuff bugs the crap out of me.

but it's the same with any area of work that has now associated itself by political decree to the regular folks of law enforcement
you can change it if you infiltrate it
..and treat people as you would like to be treated.
it seems your governmental overlords have forgotten this

Exactly.

Listen I hate the TSA but the most that happened here was they delayed them boarding a bit. The girl wasn't groped, raped, felt up, locked in a dark room w/ spiders, yelled at or treated badly in any way, shape, or form (like most other TSA videos).. She had to sit in an airport for 45 minutes.. OH NOES!!! SCARY!!! The same way she would have sat if the flight was delayed.

Wait! No! I Know!

......if everyone had private airplanes, there'd be no passenger harassment.

Bet you double or nothing one of the bomb squad just pointed out to the TSA that the 'explosive residue' on her hands was just dirt she picked up from the wheels on her wheelchair and that's why the TSA dropped the matter like a hot stone.

Wait, so if the little girl really had some kind of bomb on her, she could have blown up the entire plane because the TSA people let her go?! If TSA's going to check on somebody, no matter who it is, they better do it right and not just let it slip by. Next thing you know terrorists will really be putting bombs in wheelchairs or kids' undies because TSA will just let those people pass without a problem.

Uh, that's bad enough, but she had to do it while TSA and law enforcement agents looked at her like she was a bomb threat.

Did you miss the part where the TSA agents wouldn't let the girl's mother near her?

If she had to merely wait because the flight was delayed it's unlikely she would have been forced to be separated from her mother.

>"TSA's mission is to safely,

Unlikely. No film badges for the ones operating the x-ray machines proves that basic safety is abrogated, especially when it's a firing offense for being in posession of one.

>efficiently

No, you're not.

>and respectfully

Since when?

>screen nearly two million passengers each day at airports nationwide.

Boo hoo.

>We are sensitive to the concerns of passengers

Evidence over the past 10 years proves otherwise

>who were not satisfied with their screening experience

Which you just brush off

> and we invite those individuals to provide feedback to TSA through a variety of channels.

All of which are inconvenient on purpose.

Hey, TSA agents are morons. First time I had to go through one of those stupid body scanners, I got flagged in two areas. My arthritic knee (not even an artificial one) and over my left boob. The shirt I was wearing had sequins over the left boob. Stupid TSA agent said loud enough for everybody to hear "oh, it's just the design in her shirt." So you want to smuggle something on put it under sequins.

Once we get flying cars you will be required to quarter a TSA agent in your home so they can frisk you every morning.

Wait, I just had an idea for a romantic comedy!

The TSA already makes so many exceptions to age and disability that they can't even pretend to be acting in the interest of national security. If you're going to go full on, angry, fearful old person protector mode, you need to harass/grope/molest everyone equally. Or just don't bother. For the record, I vote for just don't bother.

But a plane exploded! Did the pilot give control of the plane to someone else? No? Then I'm ok with that.

I had an FAA inspector tell me once how the TSA gave him a hard time about his ID (they didn't recognize it and had no photo examples in their reference book (ya rly)). They pulled him into a private room, etc..... After he got out, he flipped it around, started making all kinds of phone calls and really made life hell for them.

This is the heart of the matter for me.
9/11 was a single taumaric event that most of western society has moved on from.
TSA harassment is an abuse to the culture of the nation that is reinforced every time the common person interacts with the federal government.

If you asked me which was more ruinous to the future of America, the TSA easily wins out over al Qaeda.

I can't decide if it's cute or head-bangingly frustrating that you seem to actually believe that the morons with the TSA are preventing the "tuhrrists" from flying. Or doing anything else, for that matter.

My cat has a plastic box full of crap and would like to be your candidate. She only accepts tuna in campaign donations though. She promises to shut down any 3-letter agency that you don't like including the CIA. She's particularly eager to shut down the DEA and ICE.
