Per the Newton Patch, police are currently sweeping the school, searching for two possible shooters.

Look. I'm sick of covering these stories as a goddamn News Flash. Almost certainly it's a deranged father taking out his aggression against his wife/ex-wife and their kid. These aren't news flashes, these are tragedies that we should look away from and not cover unless absolutely necessary. Giving these assholes major media attention just encourages the bastards.

As I said. Almost certainly a deranged dad taking out his aggression on his kid. Wouldn't be surprised if he already shot the wife at home.

My wife used to work on a college campus.  There was a murder in the building next to hers.  They locked the doors and went to the second floor.  She was quite surprised, when ordered to leave the building to have a laser sight dot placed between her boobs when ordered into the stairwell and escorted out.  Odd experience watching it all unravel on TV..

Yeah. Two shooters were reported at the mall shooting in Oregon, at the Aurora shooting, at the shooting at the Sikh temple, with the Norwegian massacre, etc...

Actual shooting rampages with more than one person are incredibly rare.

The media attention is making these acts more common. We should ban the media.

I'm more for nutjob control than gun control. Plenty of people have guns and relatively speaking, very few of them go off the deep end. Owning a firearm does not in and of itself make you nuts.

We heard a funny noise one time. I went outside to investigate.

I found the SWAT team, fully geared with MP5s and M16s, prepping to kick in the door of the other half of the duplex we lived in. I got to look down the business end of about 7 automatic weapons for a second there.

Scary as shiat.

Lockdown really sucks.

Only happened a few times when I was in school.

Twice for bomb threats, once because a jilted pregnant girl brought a pistol to school to kill her boyfriend's new girlfriend, and another because someone had a hunting rifle in their car because they were going hunting after school and the school thought he was "unstable".

Ah, Huron County, Michigan. Not much to do up there except fark, farm, drink, and hunt.

During the shooting on Fort Hood there were several reports of additional shooters at different locations on the base.

I love shooting guns as a hobby. I own several. It's a difficult skill to master and I gained my appreciation for it while I was in the army. That being said, I'm not sure that we as a country are responsible enough to have widespread firearm ownsherhip anymore. But the guns are out there and I'm not sure how we get the genie back in the bottle.
