Not having followed this story, I was somehow expecting the controversial logo to resemble a confused sperm cell. This is mildly disappointing.

They can assign whatever logo they want to the whole UC system; it's not like anybody's going to buy a t-shirt saying they attended the system. But don't fark with logos for specific campuses like Berkeley or UCLA (or UCSF if you're in med school).

I'm not a graphic designer or anything like one, but I've heard you don't want to use gradients in a logo because it doesn't travel well to t-shirts, patches, and other stuff. Not only that, but it's too simple. The colors clash, and I think they would be invisible to certain kinds of colorblindness--lucky bastards. Finally, it doesn't convey any information or concepts about the university to the viewer.

Honestly, if I were in charge of that place, I'd be looking to fire anyone who approved, contributed to, or in any way enabled that abomination.
