Really? I had that lesson figured out in high school. Someone called in a bomb threat one day and the school canceled classes. I said it was a stupid idea because telling people about a bomb defeats the point of planting a bomb. Lo and behold, the next week there were TWO bomb threats to try and cancel classes.

Idiots like that should be sentenced to at least fifty hours of community service by portraying the effects of tasers and/or damages from paintball guns.

Was there some sort of conspiracy to do this Thursday evening or Friday morning? The exact same thing happened in my home town, and all of the parents and families with high school kids were panicked. It seemed to happen all over the place, so it must have been coordinated...or our kids are just this evil with sick senses of humor.

I'm going to go with your second theory but add "and too incredibly stupid to not get caught". What's our education system coming to these days? I probably could have gotten away with murder by the time I was 12 if I were a violent person. Which I'm not.

Sensationalizing a real event and causing panic over a false event are different things. It's sad you two don't know the difference.

Are they different, though? What's the difference between a fake event and a fake consequence of a real event? There can't be any operative difference. Maybe you can claim there's a "moral" one, for some definition of morality, but then you need to adjust for the difference in moral judgment between a teenager learning her way around her world and an organization of educated, experienced professionals cynically exploiting the public for their own gain.

You know what I've noticed? That in speaking to all the people I know in the general area that I live, that NOBODY is talking about guns and shootings and such despite this internet hype of gun control and school shootings.

It's like maybe you should get off the internet and talk to the people that live near you that might actually make a difference in your life.
