He'll be fine. Remember, one law for use, another for them.

This will be swept under the rug inside of a week.

A Republican MORMON Senator? Popped for DUI?

hahahahaha.... You must be incredibly cynical because they are going to feast on this like holiday lamb.

MorrisBird: named Crapo?

I defer. You have a much more important point. Who doesn't want to say "Senator CRAPPO! DUI!"?

Actually, that's the odd part. Senators and Representatives routinely abuse that whole "privilege from arrest" bit in the constitution.

Was he drunk enough to forget that, or did he have too much integrity?

The privilege is a lot more narrow than a lot of people realize.

It isn't, "I'm a member of Congress, you can't arrest me."  It's, "I'm a member of Congress on my way to discharge my official duties, you can't arrest me on a misdemeanor charge."

In any case, I think the Senate might be in recess...which would render the clause inoperative.

Yeah.  That part got me, too.

The statement reads as if his DUI was the result of some procedural error and he's going to come up with a checklist to make sure that, in future, all "don't drink and drive" protocols are adhered to.

In the past, Crapo has told reporters that he abstains from drinking alcohol. At this point, it would be irresponsible not to speculate as to whether or he is a butt-chugger.

Why speculate when I can just make shiat up about slapping my dick around his face in the men's room of a DC sports bar.

Why should you always have two Mormon senators?

Because if you have just one, he will drink all of your beer and get a DUI.

This is how you people couch bullshiat. The Bush tax cuts absolutely ruined your economy, like everything that idiot ever touched. And you can't bring yourselves to bring the tax code back to Clinton levels, when the economy was booming.

I went to school with a guy who had a similar last name. All the teasing really messes you up after a while and you become sort of a sociopath, which makes you perfect for politics. But eventually, the stress of acting normal just burns you out. My friend eventually killed himself.

Metaphors like this are used to give commentators varied definitions of a particular point over time.

There is no such thing as the 'fiscal cliff'
The media is referring to spending cuts and tax increases, and that's how it should be discussed.

Not through some form of metaphorical ephemeral pondering.

Why are they not letting the Bush tax cuts expire? I don't understand that. They were supposed to expire a long time ago, weren't they? I know if I'm broke, I look for new sources of income, not deprive myself of it. That would just be stupid.

Yeah, but if you don't get a new source of income, that will simply force you to cut spending out of your budget that much faster. Really, the fastest way to cut spending is to quit working entirely; you won't have a choice but to cut your spending at that point!
