The problem isn't that the wealthy are wealthy, it's that they actively seek to keep the poor poor. Because, unless there are people who are poor, then no one is 'wealthy'.

Is the church a good church to you ?

Well, there are some good Catholic organizations out there doing charity work.
I don't count missionaries, just people providing help with necessities and volunteering their time.

Of course, they're the people at the bottom and not the "executives" of the church like ol' Palpatine here.

Some time in the future, when we move beyond religion, I will look forward to watching the wealth gathered through centuries of death, torture, theft, suppression, and lies reclaimed by the world.

And the headline doesn't even say anything of how much more good the church could do if it got rid of all their luxuries and devoted more of their tithes to actually feeding, clothing, and otherwise helping the poor.

I used to roll my eyes at threads like this, since the pope isn't looting other corps and laying off thousands, and while he has use of the church's riches, he doesn't own them.

You have a right to your freedom of religion.  You do not have freedom from criticism of your religion.  Deal with it.

The Roman Catholic Church's wealth did not come from unregulated capitalism, which is what the Pope talked about in his speech.
