On my NJ Transit line this happens all the time. Really slows down the commute for us and usally scars most engineers for life.

It happens a lot in the DC Metro area and I think it's usually the end of their career. I don't think think I could go back to work after something like this.

Indeed.

Locally a guy committed suicide via train a couple of weeks ago. He laid down on the tracks and put his head in a position that guaranteed that the train would run over it. It wasn't just the conductor that had to deal with the aftermath, but there were two people that tried to get him off the tracks without success.

If someone is going to kill themselves, they would just find another way of doing it. Unfortunately. The main problem is that this country has a ways to go to help those that need help with mental issues.
