Everything has false positives. You always want second opinions. If the rate is low, a few people being scared for a little while is well worth saving many more lives.

Sorry, I meant a high enough rate to render the test worthless.  I mean, it's testing for a marker in the blood, but does that marker show up for reasons other than pancreatic cancer?

That's what a hypothetical second test would be for. I had a benign tumor, first suspected by a doctor due to physical symptoms, first test was a blood test because it's cheap and will eliminate most negatives, the second confirmation was an MRI.

I was also taking credit for my dad's research at 15.

I think it might unfortunately boil down to biotech patent law as he actually hasn't innovated a new tech as much as combining preexisting methods. Which would totally suck for him of course but might spur a future great mind.
