See this is one of the reasons that church and state should be kept seperate.  As soon as any person in the position to make decision on laws uses God as an argument, they should be immediately thrown from office.

That being said I sign any and all petitions presented to me that request NoVA seceding and becoming its own state.

Friend of mine rented a place (in Dubai) to a couple from Europe, found out they weren't married (so cohabitating is against the law there), got REALLY concerned when the woman got pregnant (the concern was "what if the hospital asks for a marriage license during prenatal checks or at delivery).  Never heard of any problems since, so either the couple bulled their way through it, got married before the baby arrived or moved back to Europe.  Just as well, pretty sure that anywhere with draconian laws like that would take a dim view of "aiding and abetting" sinful behaviour, I would have hated to fly out there for the purposes of trying to bail my friend out of jail for simply renting a house to a couple.

I don't think NOVAns would at all mind not being saddled with the rest of Virginia... although the mountains ARE pretty.  I think the rest of Virginia would miss NOVA though -- without NOVA, who would pay for those beautiful smooth roads that all Virginians get as a god-given right... except those of us paying most of the taxes?

There's a new controversy about building a new Toll Road along side 64 in Hampton Roads. Now, I know that area is a disaster when it comes to driving and that 64 is utterly burdened and that they deserve to have more than one point of entry/exit to the shore. However the billions being sunk into that project seems to be pissing everyone north of Fredericksburg off. Don't even get me started on the cluster f*ck that's Tysons Corner now.

Well, that's just because the bastards around Wiliamsburg won't allow another bridge over the James, and Suffolk County is too broke to build a causeway through the swamp to the bridge that is already there.  NOVA can whine all they want but the money is supposed to come from the I-95 and I-64 toll slush fund.  No tolls happen, no roads happen.
