| webthing01 As if fast food is not gross enough. |
| brap Whew, for a second there I thought they were going to stop selling "Home Of The Whopper" Speedos. |
| Confabulat Wow, it's one thing when someone finds a rat head in the nuggets, but this? WTF? |
| UsikFark Yes, but did they apologize profusely on Oprah? |
| jaylectricity Hmm...I wonder what that tastes like. |
| brantgoose Your suspicions are correct: our mascot is a demented serial killer. |

TFA: "The fast food chain, which has more than 500 UK outlets, had earlier given a series of 'absolute assurances' that its products were not involved." Sir, is Burger King adding horse meat to burgers? "Nay!" |
| eraser8 Are horses less delicious than cows? Not trolling...I'm seriously curious. /voted against the California ban on selling horse meat for human consumption |

There's nothing wrong with horse meat. |

Get your piping hot horse burgers horse fries, horse cakes and shakes. We got tongue, straight from the horse's mouth. All our horses are 100% horse-fed for that double-horse "juiced-in" goodness. / Horse Pepsi okay? |

eraser8: Are horses less delicious than cows? Not trolling...I'm seriously curious. /voted against the California ban on selling horse meat for human consumption No. It's why their sales were up. |

Apos ![]() "In news sure to nauseate all day A fast food titan lost its way Though quite brief, it was coarse- They were actually serving horse- 'Have It your way'? BK, I say neigh!" |
| jaylectricity The mane thing is how much fiber are you getting from these burgers? |

If eating a cow doesn't bother you, why would eating a horse bother you? My only disappointment is that there isn't some other farm animal in there. |
| J. Frank Parnell At least with horse you don't have to worry about Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. |

TFA: "threatens to destroy the trust of customers." If the history of multi-national fast food chains wasn't enough to prevent or shake someone's 'trust' in the first place, I doubt a little horse meat or cover-up is going to do the trick. |

| A Shambling Mound Because, what, horses have souls? It's horse meat, not E. Coli. There is nothing wrong with eating it and if you think there is I'd like to hear exactly what your reasoning is. I mean, aside from the fact that you were told you were buying beef. That's an issue. |

I don't hear people complaining about this: |

What? WHAT? WHAT?! Just kidding...who cares, they eat horse meat in all sorts of other countries. |
| HellRaisingHoosier
What are the negative side effects of eating horse? I mean, we Americans eat lobster, which are essentially giant cockroaches of the seas. |
| brantgoose What a waste of perfectly good horsemeat and beef. I mean really. It's not as if horsemeat is poisonous. It is probably less poisonous than regular hormone and antiobiotic-laden beef. And having seen a few Whoppers in my time, I expect that horse meat can only improve them. For all I care, they could put kangaroo in the burgers. (That's the next big thing--Australians are about to discover that they've been eating a combination of emu, roo, and lamb as "beef" for years--which probably explains why Australian life-expectancy is so much better than American, British or Canadian life expectancy.) Isn't horse lean meat? You might be getting some performance-enhancing drugs from the horses that lose races, but then again you might not. There's probably more drugs in the horses that win races. I insist on horsemeat in my fast food burgers! And don't forget the emu, roo, lamb, moose, deer, and rabbits. ESPECIALLY RABBITS. Have you ever had rabbit? Tastes like duck. Could be worse. Could be road kill. Which is what I suspect they have been adding to fast food burgers in North America, seeing as the horse meat goes into pet food. |

The fact that horse meat is so taboo boggles my mind. I would personally not eat it, but I don't see what the big deal is. I can understand the customers being upset since it wasn't advertised as such, but whatevs. |

eraser8: Are horses less delicious than cows? Not trolling...I'm seriously curious. /voted against the California ban on selling horse meat for human consumption Horse meat is delicious (horse steak, for example), but buffalo meat is my favorite for burgers. Much more rich and flavorful then common beef burgers. Trying different meats is not for everyone, but I'd say the issue here isn't the meat they used, it's the fact that they tried to hide it. |
| RealAmericanHero I'm not sure why it's not okay to eat horses, to be quite honest. |

Will I stop eating there? Neigh |

| sleeps in trees
My issue is it wouldn't be as regulated as cow. That and I really don't think it's right to claim a certain food is another. People, regardless of how illogical have the right to choose what they put in their maw. |

I don't get it. When the fish mislabelling scandal broke out, it seemed like nobody cared. So why is everyone going crazy over a horse/beef scandal? And at Burger King? Let's face it, if you're eating at Burger King you don't give the slightest shiat what you're putting in your body. So what's the big deal, here? |

I thought horse meat was more expensive than beef. Seems weird to cut beef with a higher costing meat. /Wouldn't mind trying it though. |
| justabitdisturbed
Adding horse meat to their beef is the only way to make it taste not shiatty, apparently. |
| Real Women Drink Akvavit eraser8: Are horses less delicious than cows? Not trolling...I'm seriously curious. /voted against the California ban on selling horse meat for human consumption No, actually, they're not. They're also lower in fat, higher in protein, for some odd reason (despite the lower fat content) more tender than many cuts of beef and have a slight sweet, rich taste. I didn't realize I was eating horse meat when I was actually eating it, but when I was told later what it was (after I pronounced it yummy, of course) I reflected on the fact I'd just eaten part of Flicka and then just kind of shrugged. If you don't tell me what I'm eating before I eat it and I like it, I'm not upset later when I find out what it was when it was alive. At least I haven't been upset by the source of the deliciousness yet. I'm sure there are limits (other people, my pets - things like that). |
