The complete guide to thirty years worth of American military strikes against other countries. Remember the good old days of Reagan and Bush, when we'd shoot first, ask questions later, and arm future enemies?

FTFA: Iraq (1993): Launched cruise missiles into Baghdad, hitting Iraqi intelligence headquarters, in retaliation for assassination plot against President George H.W. Bush.

Which is funny, because it wasn't Saddam that tried to kill Bush the elder, it was Al Qaeda.

Odumbo did a pretty good job arming the enemy when the Muslim Brotherhood took over in Egypt.

Hey - I don't like our foreign policy either - it sucks. But let's not pretend this is some new deal of Fartbongo's. This is the only foreign policy I can remember us having - and I'm 63 years old. We've been up to our short hairs in the quarrels of savages on the other side of the planet my entire life - and not a single one of them a real, legally declared war.
Think about it.

Missing from the list: the economic embargo against Iran.  Not a war (though enforced militarily by the US), but it has been estimated by medical groups that up to half a million kids died because, among other things, US would not let chlorine in for water purification.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sanction s_against_Iraq

The way I remember it, Noriega declared war after it became clear Reagan/Bushv1.0 were going to remove him and bring him back to the US and try him as part of the War on Drugs. This went on for several months.

Good.

My people got hammered by the "From nits, lice grow" crowd.

Taught us a lesson about being terrorist.

As a besides, they have access to salt water, they can make their own damned chlorine.

Maybe they should worry about feeding babies before their defense industry, as should we.

Let me help.

America is a Federal Republic, in that there is a division in powers for regional issues (in this case, State-level) and Federal issues.

Interesting to note, in the definition of Federal Republic. " As in the United States, many federal republics are Constitutional Republics which seek to ensure the rights of individuals and groups within the republic."

Which is what Obama originally said.

Hmmm. Wikipedia redirect Constitutional Demoncracy to Liberal Democracy.

"A liberal democracy may take various constitutional forms: it may be a constitutional republic, such as France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, or the United States, or a constitutional monarchy, such as Japan, Spain, or the United Kingdom. It may have a presidential system (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, the United States), a semi-presidential system (France and Taiwan), or a parliamentary system (Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Poland, the United Kingdom). "

"War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives.

"It is conducted for the benefit of the very few at the expense of the masses. There isn't a trick in the racketeering bag that the military gang is blind to. It has its 'finger men' to point out enemies, its 'muscle men' to destroy enemies, its 'brain men' to plan war preparations, and a 'Big Boss' Super-Nationalistic-Capitalism.

"I spent thirty- three years and four months in active military service. I spent most of my time being a high class muscle-man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the Bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

"I helped make Mexico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefits of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China I helped to see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.

"During those years, I had a swell racket. Looking back on it, I feel that I could have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."

~ Major General Smedley D. Butler (1935)
