  • Smart move... An all-black building in Las Vegas. That will be really good for increasing the heat island there. First thing you want to do when building in a desert of course, is to design the whole city so that it will never cool down at night. Phoenix has farked things up so badly that you can watch storms break up, go into a ring around the city, and then re-form on the other end, blasting the towns south of the area with more rain than they used to have to take, and doing nothing but adding humidity to the 115 degree temps...

  • This is a sports franchise in dire need of a violent and decisive intervention.
  • Speaking of stadium clusterfarks......SoFi Stadium of Inglewood gets a $500 million infusion of money to help complete the damn thing (almost doubling the original price tag), which has had Taylor Swift "postpone" two shows that were supposed to open the stadium, as have Guns n' Roses and Tim McGraw. Maybe the Rams and that team of carpetbaggers from San Diego will play games there as scheduled, maybe they won't.

/Way to go Kroenke, great job
  • Will Allegiant still be in business on July 31?

A roomba isn't even strong enough to just suck. It needs assistance. Seems appropriate.
  • Enjoy your eyesore, Las Vegas
Allegiant is in trouble. You better hope there are other investors to pick up the pieces.

The stadium wasn't funded by Allegiant; they are not an investor.  They are just an advertisement.  The stadium construction has already been fully funded.

Allegiant agreed to pay an estimated "$20-25 million in cash and in-kind service" per year for the naming rights of the $1.9 billion stadium - and must have already paid for at least the first year since the signage is up.  (The actual terms of the deal have not been disclosed.)

If the airline goes under, the team will simply resell the naming rights to another willing entity.

/not debating the eyesore comment, though in Las Vegas, that building is far from the biggest offender

Ah. I was wrong. I thought they were investors in the project. My anger towards Allegiant prevented me from comprehending the article. At least Las Vegas will have a completed stadium for their football team.

Considering how much public money went in it, yeah, they better get a farking stadium out of it.

If Allegiant Air does go under, I don't think they would be the first stadium sponsor to do so.  I think the Denver Broncos' had a naming-rights contract with Sports Authority and that company went bankrupt.

/I'm sure there are others, just not leaping to mind at the moment

Gillette Stadium was meant to be CMGI Field.
