Minnesota PUC asked the utilities to accelerate renewal development as a way to juice the economy going forward. Utilities responded with a quarter million homes worth of solar proposals. It is a cold sunny.
Feel bad about the Navajo in this situation. We give them all the shiattiest land out in the middle of nowhere, they figure out a way to get some decent jobs, and the world passes them by. Hopefully a way can be found to provide relief and help them develop something economically sustainable
I thought this was photoshopped it's so bizarre. Beautiful scenery in the middle of nowhere with smokestacks and a coal plant right in the middle of it.

They were a headache to deal with (not well maintained, the shared ownership issue was a mess), and a lot of that energy used to go to California. Since they can't sell coal electricity to other grid operators, I'm not surprised that they're going out of their way to get rid of it.

For some reason coal plants and oil refineries occupy prime real estate. The Martin Drake plant in Colorado Springs sits right down town and is the one blatant eyesore in an otherwise beautiful panorama.

It makes sense to build a thing that pollutes a lot as far from people as possible, IMHO.

That's like locking yourself in a big room and then setting the furniture on other side on fire while consoling yourself that only that side of the room is on fire.
