    Thanks.

I don't normally hear much news out of Guatemala, but what I do hear suggest living there is a never ending shiatshow.
  • I gotta say those guillotine people have a point...

We need a lot more of that here, even if I'm at the wrong end of  blade

Keep an eye on Honduras and Nicaragua. Two big hurricanes in 2-3 weeks. People won't be happy there either.
  • Did this happen today?
  • Bob Down: Did this happen today?

  • Ah, the National Razor.
  • Amazing that they are taking to the streets. Too bad that their revolution won't work because the US government will soon flood Guatemala with flash bombs, tear gas, shields, and other weapons.
  • Somebody farked around, and is finding out.
  • Although I do admire the craftsmanship of this guillotine, I am disappointed that they didn't make it more stylish. They really should have went with a nice dark mahogany and maybe polished up that blade a bit.
  • Don't hurt the buildings damn it. Property damage demeans social bonds

Yeah, this not an everyday occurrence  - even for Guatemala

But the people who can find it on a map don't work there anymore.  It'll all wind up delivered to that gaucho place at 9 and H
  • I like the actual guillotine.
    Effective messaging.
    Replete with historical connotations.
    Can't really miss it.
    Also can't really blame them.
These folks been done over for a while.
I hope the story has a happier ending this time.
  • Back when I was picking beans in Guatemala, we used to make fresh coffee, right off the trees I mean. That was good. This is shiat but, hey, I'm setting Congress on fire.

I actually have a question regarding the craftsmanship. Is that as high as he could hoist the blade? Kind of look like it was binding. Can't say it was well made, in that case

I wish the American military, CIA, and other organizations would stay out of Latin American.

I imagine it was a q&d effort for the protest. That guillotine doesn't appear to have enough weight on the blade to cut a watermelon, let alone sever a neck from a head. Still, wouldn't want to test it!
  • They have very strict and reasonable gun laws.  You have to get a permit to purchase one.  They still have freedom.  The guns in the US should only be for the national guard  - a well regulated militia. A progressive stacked SCOTUS will fix this misunderstanding

The difference is that this is the kind of outrage generated when the government cuts spending in Guatemala:

In the USA you wouldn't even get a 'meh'. The only time people get outraged is when you raise taxes. "How dare you responsibly fund the government! OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!"
  • Their previos president was a television star who beat a former first lady in the election. Among his few accomplishments were being very corrupt, hiring corrupt relatives to work in his admin, but he moved the Guatemalan embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem so that's something.
