  • I hope that extends to other theater workers where possible. I live in a part of NJ with a lot of stagehands (one hour express ride to the PABT in Times Square) and they are hurting too.

  • The sentiment is great, but do that many actors want to be typecast as serial sex offenders?
  • Thanks to Fark, I keep reading these links as "CSB News"

    Hey now.
There is an opening for stiff on a slab
  • Damn, Noah's about to get kidnapped a LOT.
  • So Kevin Sorbo and Chachi might get some work?
  • Sorry, not sorry.  I am not going to watch a show glorifying cops.  Cops are the problem.  Especially cops who cannot be terminated (legally) by the people in the region they are policing.  ACAB.  We need to disband all cops and start a whole new system.  We need to even block all media that glorifiies cops and their sympathizers.  Total destruction of the racist system so that a new system of actual justice can rise.  A phoenix of peace and love.  A new age of aquarious.

  • You know what bugs the shiat out of me about SVU and every other TV show set during COVID? Nobody at all follows any sort of realistic pandemic precautions. They wear masks, but they take them off all the farking time when they shouldn't. They interview suspects without wearing a mask. They take off their masks as they come into the precinct - or they don't, it seems to be completely random. Sure, some people act irresponsibly in the real world too, but I swear in the world of these shows, everyone would be dead of COVID by now.

Why even bother acknowledging the pandemic if you're not going to be realistic about it? It's TV! You can just pretend the pandemic never happened instead of showing a bunch of dipshiats doing dangerous things.

Politician hooks up with a looker, then gets a blackmail letter from the husband.  Kids call it "Not throwin away my cuck".

Good point.  We are supposed to be living in the "new normal" so c'mon Television, work it into the stories.  I want to see more characters in masks.  I want to see more plexiglass.  I find it hard to watch a show that ignores the global pandemic.

Having said that, at least a few shows are working it into their plots.  Best ones ive seen so far is All Rise on CBS and Superstore on NBC - extra points to Superstore because they find the funny in all of this.

If the actors are taking off masks around other actors, then the actors are not abiding by social distancing and quarantine.  Acting, AKA playing make believe is not an essential part of the sustanance of the country.  All acting and make belive and playing dress up should be put on hold until we are done with the pandemic.  With the military enforcing the lockdown and be ordered to shoot any make believe actors or dress up players who claim they are "essential".

Dammit Chachi you're not really supposed to touch the 10 year olds.

I feel the same way about lawyers, fast food drive thru employees, and people who put bandanas on dogs.
  • "The kids call it 'Jazz Hands.' They snort crushed oxy and Pop Rocks, then run down the baby aisle at Toys R Us singing the 'Jersey Boys' soundtrack while pushing a minister by his legs like a wheelbarrow. They tell people the only thing that will break the curse is a wizard that only arrives when they set their balls on fire."

I actually don't care if a show wants to place themselves in a universe where the pandemic never happened. That's fine. What's not fine is half-assing the pandemic scenario.

There are shows like Blue Bloods and 24. Then there are shows like Law & Order in its various iterations. The latter only had 45 minutes to hash out moral dilemmas, but actors like Benjamin Bratt, Jerry Orbach, Sam Watterson, and Jill Hennessy could do more with a look than Tom Selleck could with a self righteous monologue.

/Okay. "Is this because I'm a lesbian?"  was weird. Point still stands.
  • The kids call it "doing bread lines"!
  • They had been doing that for years. Read any Playbill at a Broadway show. Oh, you can't. Blasio and Cuomo destroyed that industry.

There are some shows set in the past or future which masks would be ridiculous.
  • I'm happy the entertainment industry in CA is considered "essential" and gets to keep working. I wonder how they got a pass from the governor.....

    Fark user imageView Full Size

...oh yeah. Jason Kinney, lobbyist for the entertainment industry, had a nice party with the governor in November (right when ol' gov Newsom told the rest of us we weren't allowed to gather or eat in restaurants) and just a week or so later, the entertainment industry in California was declared essential and open up for business.
