    Pretty much
  • Okay.

I'll give them some props for "Mark Suckerturd."

    YouTube doesn't have comments anymore?

That was the main reason to go to YouTube...
  • i'm not into hate speech, but i'm still trying to figure out why everyone thinks capitol hill is the bastion of Democracy.

the place and its congresspeople are owned by big business and the rich.  just look at all the money pouring into their reelection compaigns and the 20,000 deep pocket lobbyists there to "help out" when it comes to writing Legislation.

last time i checked, that is not Democracy.

besides, the US doesn't lead in the World Democracy Index ratings by any stretch.

sorry if i hurt Murcan feelings, but facts are facts.

i think most of them just need to get laid.  they need to drop their cocks, grab their socks, and go out/socialize.

Can you show us another seat of American federal power that does a better job?

We defend the one we have, not the one we would like to have.
  • Representative of the unwashed masses: Parler just needs to get the list of filtered words that are in place here on fark and apply that to their site. I for one would love to see heads asplode when they are angry over all of the n-words. (God I hope the filter was active).

It was. But that's a new one. Wasn't it attractive and successful people or something?

other nations have more Democracy than us.

Scandinavia, new zealand, australia, canada, and some european nations.

we have a ways to go before we get to their level.  their citizens don't worship consumption and cash like we do.

you can't donate money to public office campaigns in scandianavian countries because they consider it Bribery.

that would be one place to start.....

unless we pull big money out of  our elections and our CONgress, things are going to continue to slide downhill, just as they have over the last 40 years.

Sadly thanks to citizens united and greed, that would require a constitutional amendment.

So a majority of both houses and the state legislatures of 38 states would have to vote yes to kicking themselves out of the money trough.

    Never going to happen.

They do... but for some strange reason they're not completely overrun with far-right and insane douchenozzles.  Granted, most of the videos I look at are from mario-esque video games and car/house fixing videos, but still... back in the day... even completely innocuous videos would be completely overrun with racist/vile/sexist posts.

Maybe they were bots that Youtube purged, maybe automatic moderation is better, maybe they all fleed to another site... who knows.

Lowkey it would be pretty great to tax stupidity like that.

You've spent an awful lot of time since the riot explaining that it doesn't matter since none of our corporate overlords or congresspeople are Bernie Sanders. Almost like you'd rather have the world burn than accept anything less than your Messiah.
  • I'm the most cynical person anyone I know has ever known, and I still cannot possibly fathom the notion that there are really adult human beings living in the same country as I do who would even say, much less do, any of those things.

My kids are 21 and 18.  What in the actual everloving fark have we given them?

I'm going to take the afternoon of the 20th off and sit in front of the TV with a box of tissues and a bottle of The MacAllan, praying to a God I don't even believe exists that it doesn't get even worse.

You haven't hurt our feelings. The problem is that all of us that agree with you can't afford to change that. Those that have the gold, make the rules. But many of us are trying to put younger, unbeholden people into positions to change those rules.

I wonder what happened that made conservatives suddenly change their minds about corporate influence of government.
  • Keyser_Soze_Death: [Fark user image image 464x476]

"We tried to overthrow the government, but we are the real victim here!"
  • I have a question I'm putting out there that may appear intentionally flammable. For perspective, I don't and have never supported trump, I've voted D in every presidential election since Reagan, and I believe those who broke into the capitol building should be arrested and punished. I think the comments in the article I read are disgusting. Teachers?

But we celebrated Twitter and other social media when Egyptians were attempting to overthrow Mubarak.

I have a very different subjective view of them and their intent, but objectively, under the laws of the land they were living in, were they not also, objectively, traitors and seditionists? Are we asking AWS and Twitter and Facebook, as corporations, to apply subjective valuations to the government that people may wish to overthrow? Is the difference specifically violence as opposed to illegal activity? Were the Egyptian protesters or other proponents of the "Arab Spring" not promoting violence?

this is intended as a serious question. I'm perfectly willing to admit I may be ignorant about the Middle East protest participants.
