Nice headline subby. Nothing is too obscure on FARK!
In principle, UV has been shown to work in many studies. I don't think there was any IN VIVO method, though, and after Trump made his dumb announcement, a lot of people were claiming that. It is typical of the administration that someone said something dumb, someone threw science out the window, and others rushed to cash in.
Hundreds of studies have been launched and many are producing good results that are going to help in treatments. It is very heartening for me.

If the UV works, it is at the level that can cause eye damage in seconds. UV that works also produces Ozone.
There is a narrow range of UV-C around 220nm which is germicidal but probably safe for humans (needs more studies but it seems to work with mice). It doesn't penetrate deeply enough to damage the DNA in our cells. The drawback is that it needs expensive lamps and filters.
It's not for internal use but might be good at reducing airborne transmission.

More intense UV could be used inside of HVAC systems where the radiation would be contained away from human eyeballs and skin, yet recirculated air still gets sterilized. Still an ozone problem, tho.
I use UV curing resins all the time for fly fishing. Neat stuff, but don't get it on your bare skin or you will be tasting it in your mouth for a few hours. /it's slightly unnerving to taste something that was absorbed through the back of the hand

Eyeball cells though? Wouldn't it fry the top few nanometers of our cones, sort of causing mild colour blindness?

#4 is probably just a USB flash drive with a proprietary MBR that the software they have you install requires the presence of in order to work.
#6 oh boy, someone's hacked Linux distro, "guaranteed" to not have any backdoors.
#9 how is a wifi range extender going to fix your shiatty Internet connection?
#10 oh boy! Give someone else your precious memories and probably never get them back!
#16 see #4.
#20 awesome way to fall down the stairs.
#21 I get the impression that a lot of people will end up with poorly-shaped appliances as a result.

It doesn't get anywhere near the retina, only the outer layer of the cornea.
