  • Man, he really does look like "corrupt conservative politician" right out of central casting.

Given his past, I'd have to say it's typecasting.
  • "After much prayer and reflection, Bonnie and I have decided that we will not enter the race for the United States Senate in Georgia in 2022," Perdue said in an email to supporters Tuesday

    Uh-huh.

adding that it's "a personal decision, not a political one." He did not further explain his decision.

So, a political decision. Because when someone tells me they "prayed on it", I know they are looking for a way to blame god for their decision.

    F*ck Perdue.

Sounds like Purdue is a chicken.
  • "These two current liberal US Senators do not represent the values of a majority of Georgians,"

Actually they DO...since a majority of Georgians elected them.

No no no, you don't understand. They don't represent the right kindof people. Y'see, to many of the wrongkind of people were allowed to vote, and that's how we ended up in this mess.
  • Dead girl or live boy?
  • Good. He seemed like the kind of asshole that had the best chance of winning due to the name ID.

I'd like some more of this mess, please. I wonder whether they did internal polling or someone went to David and said "you done goofed this up once. Please don't do that again."
The interesting thing is whoever wins the Republican primary is probably going to have to look and sound like Marjorie Greene. Then run against that in the General.
  • Hellkite85: What a coward.

His financial backers must have pulled out when they realized perdue means lost in French.
  • Sabreace22: Dead girl or live boy?

I'd say it's more the coming investigations on his pandemic profiteering that helped him decide.
  • Sabreace22: Dead girl or live boy?

It could be as simple as Bernie Marcus called him and told him to fark off.
  • Scrolls article...Here we go:

Perdue also faced intense scrutiny over his multi-million-dollar stock trades made during the pandemic.

DP has determined it will be more advantageous to cut bait then hitch his wagon to the GQP crazy train. The Biden DOJ might be interested in his trading activity, maybe not.

Is it worth it? He decided it wasn't.
  • Just like tRump.  He'll decide not to run in 24 because he couldn't handle getting his ass handed to him again.  No big loss.
  • I have to assume that while 'praying on it' the answer was NO.
  • Perdue may not ever realize that the constituency turned out to be quite fond of that "socialist agenda" he warned them about.

  • "After much prayer and reflection, I got a notice from the SEC informing me that my sudden trades in certain pharmaceutical, medical supply, and hotel stocks last year prior to the nationwide COVID-19 outbreak are under scrutiny and that I should probably find a good lawyer. Glory unto God, etc. etc. and whatnot, y'all."

I would pay good money for Stacey Abrams to take him out back to the woodshed for an ass kicking.
  • "I'm just here for the grift"
  • So, death threats from a further right candidate or, forgive my redundancy, is Marjorie planning on movin' on up?
  • This is too bad. Perdue was a thoroughly beatable and known opponent. Warnock now has to deal with some mystery shiathead who's probably a nazi.

I imagine Mitch and the NRSC told Perdue he's on his own after getting his ass kicked and getting a real primary opponent, same as Jeff Sessions was

The funny thing is, if GA R's went back to nominating people like Raffensburger (100% a right winger, but somewhat unflashy about it), they'd probably win by a decent margin. It's not like GA is rock solid blue: functionally, we are still a swing state at best. However, R's went from being Romney types that won on the strength of the Atlanta suburbs to pumping out a bunch of MTG clones that might win big out in Whitfield County,* but get crushed by the growing metro ATL region.

*Even then, all they did was to increase their vote % slightly from 80% R to 82% R at best. The biggest RINO in the history of politics would still beat a Democrat in those places 80-20.
