Calling herself a bridesmaid for hire is pure marketing. It lets her sell herself as a friend, an ally. Which is smart. I did something similar though not nearly as brazen or confusing.

Ehh, it's not too stupid. People have fewer friends today, and she probably has a load of dresses to rent out. Dresses that are just not ugly enough she'll wear them.

People hire other people to cry at funerals, sit next to them at parties, fill seats at awards shows, pretend to be their significant others, stand in the background of movie shoots and wave banners at protests. Its reasonable that the woman in TFA could make money off this.

I can see the appeal though. So many bridezillas treat their bridesmaids, particularly MOH, as wedding planners/labor, destroying friendships. Paying someone to serve those roles, (bridesmaid/wedding planner) would make sense to some people. Not sure I would pay someone to be a bridesmaid but definitely would pay for a wedding planner.
