  • Is it me or portuguese is a worthless language? Cant Brazil speak spanish like normal people?

38% death rate from covid when hospitalised. Damn thats bad. Like 10 times worse than in the US and Europe. Either brazilian hospitals suck or the brazilian variant is gonna fark us up.
  • Its going to be weird watching second and third world countries still dealing with the 'rona after the first world gets fully vaccinated. Maybe Sally Struthers can do them a solid?

I'd need more info on the overall state of Brazilian care. Last I remember they were pushing bullshiat treatments just like Trump.

Yeah. Some central American countries were down to fewer than 100 doctors because of the first Covid. Clearly that is the available instrastructure

BUT and this is a big but, I cannot lie

The doctors appearing on tv each night in Canaada, on CTV, CBC and Global news, are all saying this wave is a brand new pandemic with far worse numbers than last year. We've had 10 days now where they say on CTV that P1 and B117 are behaving like a new infection entirely, absed on who is in the hospital since mid-March.

We don't have numebrs yet to confirm but the medical staff are also saying the disabilities from last year are far worse than they thought. And P1 looks like it will be worse than that.

So. The numbers from Brazil are going to be tested by what happens in British Columbia and Ontario this month.

All Brazilian data and stats need to be broken down by income and ethnicity; that will show the real reason for Bolsinaros' inaction.
  • Brazil deaths 321886 (sum of the columns on the graph)
    Brazil population 213863000
    Brazil death rate 0.001505

    US deaths 556546
    US population  330425184
    US death rate 0.001684

Under the glorious leadership of the orange tyrant, US beats Brazil, leading by 179 deaths per million.

Their President is a farking moron.  Trump did nothing to prevent COVID.  Bolsenario actively fought against masks and local governor efforts to prevent COVID.
  • I guess Brazilian Trump really was the best person to decide on policy after all.

  • Good thing the leader of Brazil isn't an egomaniac, and follows reliable scientific advice for dealing with disease.

    \oh, wait...

More likely a variant will develop that resistant to current treatments, and we'll all be back in quarantine for years.

I would say that the fact that the graphs compare mortality in Brazilian hospitals between this March and last Mar-December means it is not the hospitals that have changed here

The scary thing is that with 3-4000 deaths per day down there, it seems Brazil is making a run at the crown, especially as US deaths continue to fall below 900/day.
  • It'll evolve to be less deadly when the weather warms up or some other nonsense.
  • Also, time to move the goalposts and blame hospital overload. Should have bought more doctors and made more ventilators!

It's getting really hard to keep their worldview coherent. Not even a peep about it being a hoax and fake numbers anymore.
  • Stibium: It'll evolve to be less deadly when the weather warms up or some other nonsense.

You are dead wrong. It's heading for winter down there so obviously it will evolve to become less deadly as it gets colder.
  • This would have been us if Democratic led states and cities hadn't told Trump to fark off.
  • Don't worry, it will be gone by Easter.  Oh, umm, Easter 2022.
