  • No different that Massachusetts and New Hampshire.

Mass goes to NH for cheaper booze, cigarettes, and sales tax free shopping.

NH goes to Massachusetts for jobs and weed.
  • Economic interdependence, FTW... I guess.
  • Why on Earth would Quebec do something so stupid?
  • Pot's available in Quebec.  Is it cheaper in Ontario?  I know Ontarians (the younger ones anyway) go to Quebec because the legal drinking age there is 18.  Used to be also because you could go to any Couche-tard (yes, that's the actual name -- known as Mac's elsewhere) and buy beer, until Ontario got beer sales outside of regulated Beer Stores a couple of years ago.
  • They should just meet at the border and trade.
  • Weird.  Young people in Michigan drive over to Ontario to buy booze.
  • Psychopusher: Couche-tard

    Sleep-late?

I'm assuming that's Quebecois for "late-night convenience store."
  • I hear there's great fishing in Q-bec....

I live outside Detroit.  We'd go to Windsor because the drinking age was 19 and the strip bars were fully nude whereas in Detroit, they were just topless.

Pretty much.  Colloquially it's interpreted as "up late" or "(go to) sleep late."  Still uses the same Mac's logo though.  (I remember when it was called Mac's Milk.)

Oh yeah.  Our peeler bars have been fully nude for decades.  I got a nekkid lapdance (she was, I wasn't, sadly) for my 18th.  :)

    FTFM.
  • I would summarize this as:

    Markets Without Boarders.
  • Son #2 lives in New Brunswick. A few years back Mrs. Henry & I flew there to see the new granddaughter. Weed had just been legalized so I went to a store there to buy some just so I could have the cheap-thrill of taking it through the airport & onto a plane. Mrs. Henry grabbed my stash & stored it in her purse. She also decided she really really likes herbal remedies after sampling it.

Do you mean why would Quebec raise the age limit for buying weed?  Because a lot of people there never liked the idea of legal weed at retail in the first place?

Quebec is full of religious people.

The people who have broached the subject to me (yes, they're older, and yes, they live in St. Clang-Clang des Moo-Moo) aren't particularly religious; they just think that having the stuff legal to buy at a store is dumbcluck public policy.
  • It seems pretty stupid to have your drinking age set at 18 and then up your pot age from 18 to 21. I see no good reason these age cutoffs shouldn't be set the same. For the very reason demonstrated in this article.

No, not as far as I know.  It doesn't help matters that legal at retail was put through under Justin Trudeau, as many Quebec people have no use whatsoever for him.

Quebecers would rather have the Hells Angels running things. Farking morons.

Keep in mind that some people think Reefer Madness is a documentary.
  • RIP Becky. Just one marijuana was all it took. Wake up sheeple...stick to wholesome corporate booze.

There's still plenty of black market activity in the weed business in Quebec, as there is in the rest of Canada.

"Deux ans et demi après la légalisation du cannabis, la Société québécoise du cannabis (SQDC) soutient qu'elle a conquis 50 % du marché noir."

    Link

So that's half of the local market still in the hands of the "Hells" and their friends, according to the local weed authority.

BTW, my friends in Quebec aren't "morons."  And I'm sure that they're aware that the criminal element isn't out of the weed business just yet.
