Yeah...not sure I've tried it on Firefox, Chrome and Edge with same results.

Maybe need to try Navigator next.
  • Your 17 year reminder that The Talking Heads' "This Must Be The Place" can be a song about cicadas.

Home, is where I want to be
But I guess I'm already there
I come home, she lifted up her wings
Guess that this must be the place
I can't tell one from another
Did I find you, or you find me?
There was a time before we were born
If someone asks, this where I'll be where I'll be

Hi yo we drift in and out
Hi yo sing into my mouth
Out of all those kinds of people
You got a face with a view
I'm just an animal looking for a home
Share the same space for a minute or two
And you love me till my heart stops
    Love me till I'm dead
Eyes that light up, eyes look through you
    Cover up the blank spots
hiat me on the head ah ooh

Isn't working for me either but then again that's a nice representation of noise.

  • What's going to surprise cicada swarm virgins is just how loud they are. It's like a super-shrill ringtone going off all around you 24-7.
  • 17 years is such a misnomer, cicadas emerge every damn year along with a batch of articles pretending it's some kind of unusual event.

    Er, kinda.

While "cicadas emerge every damn year" is true, so is "Trillions of cicadas are about to emerge after 17 years underground".

Some of the broods are larger - as the article points out, Brood X is considered one of the largest - and some have not had as much of their territory dug up or paved over. If you're lucky enough to get both, you get bunches of the noisy little farkers.

Also depends on where the brood is located.  Virginia doesn't have much to "worry" about Brood X, but Indiana is pretty much covered by it, so this year will be loud as all fark for them.

But yes, there are plenty of periodic broods that "alternate" years, and plenty of the annual (non-periodic) bastards.

Brood IX last year wasn't so bad, but Brood X is (at least comparatively) enormous.

So some years just suck more than others.
  • I wonder how well they pair with my tinnitus?
