  • I think regular tubs of Ben and Jerry's and similar will expire or get all crystalized after a few months.  But a box of neapolitan?  That should last several decades.
  • Expire? Are they holding shipments in warehouses for months?

That sh*t just goes. I mean, yeah, store brands might push it because people only buy store brands for kids or office parties, but the bigger names have their fan base. Waddling and happy.
  • JFC someone got paid money to write those words.
  • Way back in the day I was a Master Food Preserver volunteer for the Ag Extension Service. We got a whole bunch of information on how long food lasts in frost-free freezers, chest freezers, and for different temperatures. The rule of thumb was that ice cream would last 9-12 months. The absolutely predictable question that everyone asked was "Who keeps ice cream around for a year?"

I kept some around because here, Blue Bell costs nearly $8/container most of the time but they have coupons or promos every so often where it's like 2/$7.

Well, I was eating healthier and running to get in shape for a basketball tournament, so I would still buy the ice cream when it went on sale for AFTER the tournament. I had probably 8 half-gallon tubs and went through them pretty quickly when the tournament was over.

But even that was just, like, 6 months, max.
  • "You'd think the freezer is some kind of fountain of youth that'd keep food edible forever, right?" You'd think Food & Wine would have decent writers.

How about you write about your opinions and what facts you have, and keep it at that. It's not your place to tell me what I think.
