  • I just want to point out that MAOI's are not commonly prescribed antidepressants because they have a lot of drug interactions. That said this research is interesting.

Thank you. They're pretty rare depression drugs now, only used if other things don't work.

They're insanely tricky drugs because they basically let things through the blood/brain barrier. You even have to watch your diet if you take them, because some common foods have things in them that will fark you up if they cross over the BBB.

Fun fact: Ayahuasca is the combination of two plants, one of which contains a natural MAOI and one which contains DMT (which otherwise can't cross over when eaten).

If you understand that, then fark off with all the mouse breakthroughs that have no confirming data from independent studies that verify anything and let us know instead when HUMAN STUDIES tell us things

The breezy way cancer is written about has always bugged me; like it is an active, malevolent, CONSCIOUS BEING.

It's worse than that.  Cancer is a living, breathing (cellular respiration) and active part of a CONSCIOUS BEING - but it has turned traitor.  Genetic code done flipped its bits and gone batshiat crazy.  We, conscious beings, are nothing but the sum of our bio-gooey parts.  It seems right to assign malevolence to bio-goo gone bad.
