  • I was reading on how it seemed like it was a pretty successful robbery, until I realized the Simpsons joke.

    /Worst realization ever
  • Real dumb as every card shop for at least a hundred miles is going to be alerted to what was stolen and will be on the watch for it.   Odds are they will likely be sold or attempted to be sold Via Ebay or other online sales medium

I dunno. That sounds kinda...light for a comic book fan.

  • The incident occurred at Juniata Cards along 1019 North 4th Ave. where a white male measuring around 6 feet tall and weighing around 200 pounds entered the shop armed with a semi-automatic pistol, according to the Altoona Police Department.

I'm glad the news are reporting important details again like what the color or race of the suspect is. I'm sure had this been a "minority" suspect, the race or color would have still been reported, right.... right?

    If they stole this:

He's a mercenary. Someone wanted those specific cards and hired this guy to steal them. The deal was for mastermind to get the cards, the thief gets to keep the gun, some upfront money, and whatever cash he can find in the shop. For a job like this you hire Jay, not Silent Bob.

Umm yeah. been that way since the invention of news.

Not anymore. They've started leaving out race because of stereotyping. Now we get vague describing like male 18-45, wearing a black jacket, and white hat. Super helpful.

He certainly wasn't a pokey man. As fleers go, this guy was topps.

I work in an industry that sees it's share of robberies and the only time our local news might not call out the race of the suspect is if they have his name and identifying details such that its a moot point or they have a photo that makes calling out the race redundant.

most instances where they have a suspect that hasn't been indentified will include a mention of race.

    which way do you sit?
  • Bullitt: Are the Pogs OK?

I stopped playing HeroClix when they introduced pogs.  For me the quality of the individual pieces was a large part of the appeal of the game.  The idea of an incredibly weak, one "click" character itself wasn't the problem, but I'd rather have seen that be a plastic, three-dimensional figure with a base that doesn't turn, like how most traditional tabletop battle games' figurines work.
  • With  "Worst Robbery Ever" and "card shop", I thought, "Somebody stuck up a f*cking Hallmark store?"

Important part of description when you want the public to recognise and report a felon.

Well, they didn't actually say anything about race.

It's an incident report and you do know we can see what you are typing?
  • Most likely a "customer" or someone who has been in the store fairly recently. The owner should review the security footage for the past few months for someone fitting the description.

Cards are demanding crazy money these days. Even Target has a line out the door on the mornings they restock their trading cards.
