  • If the Monday Night Mannings is a regular thing, I may have to cough up an upgrade on cable and get all the ESPNs.
  • They never stopped. The only people whining about it were the crybaby Trumpers, who just ran their mouth on social media while NFL countdown was on their TV at the same time
  • Yeah, I'm watching football on TV more often than I used to. I used to attend 4-10 games a year, but I don't see myself going back anytime soon.

I think we're pretty clear on the answer to that one.
  • This was the first year both CBS and Fox had doubleheaders on Week 1.

Breaking News:  More games broadcast lead to more viewers.

See I'm the exact opposite Fark Peyton Manning. Fark his stupid "act" and fark all the people on TV who gush over him and his stupid "awww shucks, I'm just a Mayberry Boy" crap. Keep that idiot off TV.

I'm in the middle.  I thought it was boring.  Him and Eli and Charles Barkeley (for some reason) just bullshiatting while watching a game but providing no real insights was not something I enjoyed.  I thought I would like it, but I didn't.  I went back to the regular broadcast.

There are only two shows worth watching where someone riffs on the show, MST3K/Rifftrax and "Action Bronson Watches Ancient Aliens".

I agree they never really stopped but there was (is?) a lot of virtue signaling on Fark with people declaring they were done with football or hadn't watched it in years.

All virtue signalling should be done by mooning those whom the signalers wish to impress.
  • I'm sick of watching just fatties die from covid, time to watch some people in their prime kill each other slowly for my amusement.

I'm sure the players, some of whom make up to $2M a week, are thankful for your outrage on their behalf.
There isn't an active player today that isn't aware of the risk but you're one of those that clutches your pearls and pretends the evil owners are forcing them to play for free.

While this is true, let's also not pretend like Chik-Fil-A went out of business or anything. Boycotts as a whole seem to be pretty much worthless

I thought it was way better than listening to the regular commentators.

And they were calling out the coverage schemes and noting when Carr was misdirecting blocking coverage. Hell Eli even called out "whatever you do, don't hard count" on that goal line play where Carr hard counted. On top of it they allowed themselves to be brutally honest about individual players.

    I thought it was good

Eh, I'll give it another try.
  • Part of the issue in 2020 was a change ESPN made.  They didn't check if we were prepared.  Nobody asked "are you ready for some football?"

  • I'm not.  fark Dean Spanos and the NFL in general, but most especially, Dean Spanos.

There was also the contingent of people who suddenly became neuroscientists after watching a Will Smith movie who opined that people would stop letting their kids play football, interest would drop off, and soccer would replace it in popularity.
  • I also think the ratings dip had something to do with the lack of fans in the stadium. It's weird to watch and the energy and excitement ain't the same. Like the NBA bubble was the smart thing to do but watching those playoffs just seemed off.

Didn't Chik Fil A change some of their anti gay stances because of those boycotts though?

IDK I enjoy games more without fans.

At least when I want to root for the home team. Then they show all the fans and I think "ugh, I don't want those people to be happy, ever."

I don't believe so, but honestly you may be right. I haven't really kept up, tbh
