  • Bobby Flay is such a big ick.
  • Another Statue in the David Caruso   Hall of Fame.
  • To be fair, Bobby Flay is an actual chef.   Guy Fieri is not.  Flay is apparently kind of a dick, and Fieri is apparently a really cool dude, but if it comes down to actual food expertise, Flay is the guy that should get paid.
  • People still watch the Food Network?
  • Flay is a dbag, but his food is insanely good.
Food (celebrity) network only cares about the annoying foodies that have their own catch phrases. The food is an after thought.
I'll stick to PBS and Alton.

Are you saying Alton Brown isn't a dbag?

But Guy Fieri eats food, which is something everyone does, no matter how much or little, or how well or poorly, they cook.

Sure.  And he is a nice guy that does a lot when people are in need.

He isn't a chef, though.   Hotel Management degree from UNLV and a restaurant owner, sure, but he has never run a kitchen, and basically has never worked in one in any serious capacity.

I will also eat pretty much anything.
  • No more Beat Bobby Flay where he throws pickled red onions, pomegranate, calabrian & fresno chilies into something and magically wins 95% of the time?  How dreadful.

Now his show where he and Giada went to Italy and actually cooked I did enjoy.

Being a chef has no bearing on how much one should be paid for hosting TV shows.
The valuable metric is ratings and advertising revenue.
Guy is fun to watch, Flay not so much.

With that being said I would choose a Flay restaurant over a Fieri one 70% of the time.

Maybe once a month when bored at home I'll stumble onto it when they're running a marathon of Chopped or D,D & D and leave it on in the background when I dick around in the kitchen or something.

Also, they seem to almost always run marathons of Chopped and D,D & D during weekday evening hours which can't bode well for their current programming
  • I'm willing to bet the world's most prolific serial killers are also celebrity chefs.
  •
I worked at an event that had Flay come and cook with the CEO. The guy was a massive douche of epic proportions. Just a giant, gaping asshole. Good riddance.

His wife has been an amazingly moderating influence. They've been doing a live YouTube show from their home starting during the lockdown. He's a bit irascible, for sure, but we old guys kinda get cantankerous at times, but they've got a great dynamic.

Yeah, it was weird to find out that Alton is a prick. Monster ego on that guy.
  • Lol food suits.  Nice one subs.

it's not really magic though. most of the people overthink themselves and go "I'm making a peanut butter chicken fettucine Alfredo, because surely they'll choose originality".

I also think the timeline from cooking to tasting compared to normal restaurant service is not accurately represented and probably plays a bigger factor in the outcomes.

Yeah Alton was run out of town by the Fark brigade quite awhile ago.
  • NewportBarGuy: People still watch the Food Network?

You mean the Game Show Network
  • poopyhead: Bobby Flay is such a big ick.

But he was/is bonking Giada De Laurentiis...
  • Bobby flay farking sucks
  • I have never met Flay, so I'm not gonna judge him, but I do look the Beat Bobby Flay show.  I love to cook but no way I can pull off what everyone does with a time limit.  its fun to watch.

I wont judge because I used to believe Guy was a dick from everything I read on the net (which must be true!)
and it seems he's a hell of a cool dude.  I like GGG less the  beat flay cuz its more campy but its still ok.  DDD just makes me want to eat EVERY FREAKING THING they show...

In conclusion I really dont have any point.
There's a Flay restaurant in Borgota I've never eaten at because it only opens after 5 certain days and its super pricey.
There's a Guy BBQ counter place in Ballys I also havent eaten at because its next to a damn good taco place.
