  • With a few months of exceptions here and there, I've been working at home for about 15 years, when my employer isn't sending me around the globe.

I fill my gas tank once a month.
  • When I moved my driving went from 1000 miles a month to 100.
  • Love all the morons that think the entire world lives in stinking cities.

Dear city dwellers. EVERYTHING you consume originates from people outside cities. When farmers can't afford to plow fields, where do you think your food will come from? When you can't get that new IKEA bookcase because a truckdriver can't afford fuel, where are you going to get one from? When your subway car blows an axle, and the steel plant is shut down because it can't fuel it's machines, how are you going to get around?

Stop being smug idiots. You are entirely dependent on all those people that need affordable fuel. Without them, you will expire.

Your very lives depend on them. They don't need you at all. Wake up.
  • I like to ride public transit. I like to have urine stains on my clothing BEFORE I arrive to work.
  • I'm just here to hear from those exceptional people that can afford electric cars.
  • Okay, maybe it takes two hours to take three buses to work, instead of a twenty-minute drive.  But I can take care of my emails on the way!

Dear farmers where do you think your equipment/technology comes from?

    Shut the fark up,
    City folks
  • I've been work from home for like 20 years now. I teach classes to adults sometimes, but when I do that, the classroom is in a building that's literally across the road from my home. I haven't been to my office in 2022.

That being said, I like taking trips in to Chicago and southern Michigan during the summer a little too much to say $6 gas isn't incredibly lame.

Of course they need cities.  Who will buy the food and the axles?  Who makes the fuel?  Last I checked, the refineries are in Houston, New Orleans, New Jersey, and Los Angeles.

So, you should logically encourage the millions and millions of townies and city dwellers to preserve more of that Permian Stink Juice for future Important Rural Needs by taking transit and living efficiently, rather than driving the old Expedition to soccer practices and Walmart.    But, no, you seem to want them to run it out faster, raising the market price for it, and eventually f**king over farmers who actually need it.
  • I am glad to be on my third year of working from home (even changed my employer in that timespan); however, 11 gallons in my Mazda cost me $58 the other day.  I drive once per week, but that still sucks.  Would love an electric car for many reasons, but I want/need my mortgage paid off first.

That's just the tip (giggle). Cities are the centers that create technology, the centers of entertainment, publication and arts creation, (this is currently a bad example but) the centers of the rule of law and civilization, the center of the economic engines, the center of scientific and medical advancements. Etc etc.

If you think you'd be happy plowing fields 16 hours a day behind a mule just to die at 30 from disease or starvation. Then sure. F#ck cities.

If what the hicks are producing is so valuable why do they need subsidies? Also steel plants aren't, generally in rural areas. In other words, go fark your sister

The issue isn't the rural population. It's the suburban population who need a big plot of land to build a McMansion, drive 20+ minutes to anything and NIMBY anything that might take away anything from the above.
Also, the public policy in the last 70 years has been driven to cater to the suburban population at the cost of the urban population. Highways cutting through cities, higher density housing eliminated so that large parking lots can fill up valuable space and cutting funding to public transport/walkable solutions because people can just buy a car.
  • We did the math. If we made coffee at home, instead of picking up at starbucks, we could continue to drive both of our vehicles into our same-location office/salon space thus continuing our autonomy and not shifting our budget. I like the home-brewed better anyway.

However, the same people who are giddy about high gas prices forcing people to use mass transit or buy electric vehicles seem to forget that pretty much ALL FARM EQUIPMENT runs on diesel. Super high diesel prices are going to cause massive food price increases.

The upcoming food crisis looks biblical in proportions.

    #end times.

    Generally large semirural towns.

It's not so much the diesel, but the natural gas which produces fertilizer from ammonia via the Haber-Bosch process.

But I'm not worried about that causing a famine.  High prices for fuel will curtail a lot of demand long before it curtails food demand.

I'm not seeing evidence of any curtailed demand anyway.   Everyone is biatching about prices, but traffic is as bad as ever.
  • I work 10 miles into a protected wetland, so I'm getting a kick.

    /will always drive.

Best decision I made in a while :)

Reid, who drives for Uber and Lyft in New York, fills up his Lexus at least three times a week.

What could be more 'Merica than complaining about the cost of filling up your Lexus for driving a Lyft.

Every dumb hick who has ever lived has thought this.
Every one who has actually tried it out has perished as a consequence.
You only exist because human civilization makes it possible
The option of living as a savage closed to you, and 99% of humanity, ten thousand years ago. Civilization is your only conceivable hope of survival.
    Stop saying absurdly stupid things.

A manufacturing plant that is outside of a major city in order to avoid the additional tax burden and issues regarding transportation and supply lines required for said goods.

    Best Regards,

    Folks who run the factory

PS: you both need each other.  If you haven't figured that out yet, no wonder we're all in this mess.
