I've been a fan of Junji Ito's obscure and underrated "Uzumaki" for a while now so you might understand the unnerving sensation of unreality I felt when I saw this on a store self a couple of months ago.

The movie's good, but they made it before he finished the manga, so it just sort of stops at the end. I'd love to see a remake that tells the complete story.
It was also made on a low budget, like most Japanese horror movies, so they didn't show some of the really weird stuff.

Ugh, that movie... just so disappointing. Rented it from a West Coast Video that used to be a Blockbuster when it came out. Didn't help that my girlfriend at the time loved horror movies and I ended up way overhyping it thinking it would cover most of the manga.

Enjoyed the movie. Last I heard Adult Swim, I think, was working on an animated series keeping close to the original art style, but that was a while ago.

All of this, really. It just trails off after the washing machine bit, no resolution at all.

Ah yeah, the collection of his short stories right? If it's the same one I'm thinking of there was a bunch of problems with censorship and budget allocation. When it came out it was kind of meh.
