  • Came here half expecting photos of ships lying on their sides at the bottom of the dried-up Thames right in the middle of London.

    Leaving relievappointed.

  • I am Tom Joad's Complete Lack of Surprise: make me some tea: phalamir: Concrete Donkey: iron de havilland: make me some tea: Lady J: there has been no mention of water restrictions, I don't understand it.

we've hit record temperatures, and it's been at least warm for months.  we haven't had rain worth mentioning since May.

    That is weird.

Maybe because this is so unusual that the government doesn't have any process created for emergency drought management? They had better get on that.

Per TFA, it's all on the water companies:
Even as the source of the Thames shifts during the dry weather, Thames Water has not implemented restrictions on water use such as a hosepipe ban. Instead it is asking users to be judicious with their tap water, doing things such as turning off the tap while brushing their teeth. Government sources revealed on Wednesday they were frustrated that water companies were not putting hosepipe bans in place.

So what you are saying is the british government is so weak it cant even force companies to use basic water conservation measures?

Since the government is run by Tories, I think it is more that the government is wanking themselves too much at the thought of the problems this causes to stop it.

The faucets running dry will present a political problem for Tories for sure.

They just have to claim the EU is stealing all the rain and their dimwit electorate will eat it up.

Within the state, it is pronounced correctly as R-Kansas. When it enters into the cesspool of Oklahoma, incorrect pronunciation is begun again.
