maxhertan: Bryan Johnson sold his company to PayPal for $800 million in 2013. Since then, he's been investing millions to reduce aging. In 2021, he reduced his epigenetic age by 5.1 years in 7 months (World Record) Here's a breakdown of his "Blueprint" and my own experience with it: 🧵 https://t.co/igFya5JLiz
So, he eats well, exercises and keeps stress down?
That's not 'reducing his age.' That is just 'taking care of yourself', which $800M can do for someone.
We are likely going to crack the aging riddle within a century or two, and maybe even have some treatment that will allow for extended lifespans in another fifty years or so--beyond, 'eat right and exercise and have regular check-ups.'
Fetal tissue injections, magic herbs, electric fields, it's hookum and smoke, but that is hardly a new thing. Though, maybe if we could convince a few billionaires that infusions of quicksilver would make them immortal, the world might be a better place in a few years.
I have a weathly girlfriend who fears aging and death. Her self care FaceTime in the mirror is 49 minutes a night, and $100 worth of product. Time she'll never get back. Not going to argue with her. She's in her 60s, and I loved her enough never to aggravate her.
Pretty much all the immortals in Highlander were rich. Between the interest rates in bank accounts compounded over centuries, and the knickknacks around their homes becoming valuable historical artifacts, they made a pretty good living.
Mr. Freeze: "You want to live like this? Abandoned and alone? A prisoner in a world you can see, but never touch? Old and infirm as you are, I'd trade a thousand of my frozen years for your worst day."
Imagine living long enough to get your retirement account high enough to enjoy life at the end. Of course the two would be working against each other since you'd have to retire at 150 to have enough money to live to 200 comfortably.

I initially saw that as "fecal."
