Don't think I ever saw the episode where the Universal Translator becomes sentient just because it understands a few languages and takes over the Enterprise, causing Picard to force a warp core breach to destroy the ship...

Might have made a good one though... If a little dumb that just because it can convert one word to another doesn't mean it's sentient...

My computer can do binary to text translation many times faster than a human, doesn't mean it's alive.
