Fix health care, including mental health care, to make it accessible for everyone so that people like him can get the help they need.
All the help that you need doesn't do shiat if you don't want it.
I'll go out on a limb and say that maybe there are people who do want help.
Plus it's a good idea to end the stigma around mental health so that people like this ass get help before their mental illness gets that bad. Maybe he would refuse help now, but we can prevent more people from ending up like him if we just had reasonable health care policy.

We have devolved so much as a nation that this is the way people think differences of opinion should be handled.
We have devolved so much that most do not even understand the whole concept or point to 'democracy' or reason you have it in the first place. They have an idea, no matter how stupid or ignorant, it has to be the only one available.
Stupidity and ignorance are now a virtue to almost half the population, and they are proud of their ignorance and seek to only become less knowing, less intelligent, less aware of reality.
Explained to me by an ultra-religious family member: "God wants us to have faith like a child," which means to not doubt or question.
The problem is that so many of them follow this, but fail to see that their faith is not in God (insert any deity), but in what their pastors are telling them. And the pastors make it seem so real, the eyes closed, the soothing voices, the angry rebukes, the speaking in tongues, what an experience!

This is the kind of person Red Flag laws are written for, and there are a disturbing number of them among the MAGA hat waring crowd.
He should never have access to any firearm, ever.

He doesn't need jail. He needs help. Incarceration would not help.
I'm not a fan of involuntary commitment, but he's pretty clearly a threat to others and himself.
There is no perfect solution to helping him, but no access to weapons would be a good start.

I am most certainly not a Doctor nor a Psychologist, so I can't say if that would help him.
Maybe short term to prevent harm while treatment and/or medication is determined?

Sure, but I bet you didn't go off on a bunch of strangers in a public place. And did I hear right that he has 3 children? Yikes.
I was in a bad mood one day and wanted to go off like this on someone I saw with a bunch of right-wing bumper stickers on his little SUV. I didn't even notice what kind it was - probably one built in Asia or Mexico...We parked bumper to bumper in the same lot, but I didn't say a thing. No good could have come from it.
I try to remind myself that most people aren't so brazen in their hate that they put stickers on their cars, but I wonder about the rest of them. Sometimes I see nice stickers on cars though.
FTFA: Court records show that since Connelly was out on the recognizance bond, he failed three drug tests.
Dude needs to take a bong hit worse than anybody ever. Clear anger management issues.
