Alphax:I'm still thinking about this one. Haven't decided.
One reviewer said that when Billy Batson became his adult altar ego, he becomes a lot less mature.
The review I saw pointed out that Zachary Levi gets to have all the "fun" scenes, while the kid playing young Billy gets stuck with all of the melodrama.
I thought the first movie was decent, certainly one of the best of the DC films. The sequel doesn't interest me at all, though. It looks like a very generic CGI Fight-fest, but with less interesting characters than an MCU film.
It's going to take a while before people see DC movies as anything other than train wrecks, unfortunately. The first one was awesome, but thought the release for this was still months away. And I think most people are now just waiting for movies that aren't massive blockbusters for streaming.

That's what the first one is. I haven't seen the second one. You can' think about it or it ruins the movie.
Billy Batson is a guarded 14 year old who learned to take care of himself as a foster child and has some adult-like tendencies but law breaking behaviors, and could pass as an 18+ year old.
He turns into Shazam in the body of a 30 year old but his interactions would make you think he's a confused & vulnerable 12 year old.
There's just no connection between Billy and Shazam at all. But the chemistry both actors have separately with Freddie (Jack Dylan Grazer) make their scenes very good.
This new one is supposedly 2 and a half hours, so...
The DC universe had its time. "The Superfriends", best watched at 4 in the afternoon about, hmm.... 50 years ago. It was a little simplistic even then.
It costs me and my three teens like 100 dollars to go to theaters. Snacks and drinks, travel, tickets. Plus, that's if we just go to the movies and don't go out before/after. No thanks. The only thing I've watched recently that I wanted to go back and see in theaters is EEAO.

I never understood why they had a different actress for the oldest sister's alter ego in the first movie.

Wine Sipping Elitist: I saw 2 commercials about this and thought it was a joke. Didn't we just have Black Shazam last month?
That's the problem. Black Adam was supposed to be in the Shazam films, but Dwayne Johnson's ego got the better of him.

And that's what happens when you let a wrestler's "brand" take over your project. The Rock was trying to slap his brand all over the franchise.

kukukupo: Good. Hopefully the superhero burnout will continue and we can get some different movies in the theaters.
I wouldn't count on that. "Quantumania" is breaking all kinds of records.

I enjoyed it well enough, but don't have any particular desire to see another one.

It must be awful for you to have to not go to 3 movies a year.

Lol, as if that would end the glut of thread-shiat posts from haters.
