When I was about 6, I went fishing with my Dad in Western PA, where we lived. He accidentally hooked a hellbender, and it was freaking terrifying. I had nightmares well into adulthood.

Fog. So much fog in that goddamn state and people barreling along the highway at 80mph in the middle of the night even though they can't see 10 feet in front of them.
I haven't seen many fireflies in quite a few years. When we first moved to SW Pennsylvania in the summer of '86 they were everywhere during the summer evenings. I've been at my current place since September '19 and I don't think I've seen any. And this area is fairly rural.

Mock26:Pennsylvania is best symbolized by a dumb-ass redneck.
There's a few, it's true. But Pennsylvania has some of the smartest people in the world at universities like CMU. They had a self driving car that could do the cannonball run in 2002.
Also, don't underestimate rednecks. I met a kid in high school at a science event. West Virginia. His hobbies were hunting and off-roading, and doing complicated trig proofs when he couldn't do the first two. He's probably been designing robots or something for the last 20 years.
One life for ten has always been the diesel driver's code.
I have it on good authority he sideswiped nineteen neat parked cars, clipped off thirteen telephone poles, hit two houses, bruised eight trees, and Blue-Crossed seven people.

Oh, the real one. I wasn't aware.
The song otoh has been famous for years.
It's a pretty old story. I heard it on a bus down in Scranton from an old man who said "Boy," he said, "Boy, that sure must've been something. Just imagine thirty thousand pounds of bananas. Yes, there were thirty thousand pounds of mashed bananas."

Maybe if they used a picture from PA instead of NY they might still have fish?
